TIRANA - PRIZREN - PRISHTINA - SKOPJE (360 KM)
Prizren - Begin your journey with a pickup from your hotel or accommodation in Tirana at 8:00 AM. Travel for about 2 hours to reach the first stop of this two-day trip, the city of Prizren in Kosovo. Known as the cultural capital of Kosovo, Prizren is a lively and picturesque town nestled among mountains. It’s a genuine and lesser-known gem in the heart of the Balkan Peninsula. During your walking tour, you’ll visit the Sinan Pasha Mosque, the UNESCO-listed Church of Our Lady of Ljevis, the Museum of Prizren League, and the Ottoman Old Town, famous for its gold and silver filigree artisans.
Pristina - Next, continue your journey to Pristina. Start with a visit to Monastery Gracanica before arriving in Pristina. Your first stop will be the Kosova National Library, a notable example of modern architecture. Then, head to the open-air archaeological park featuring artifacts from the Neolithic period and the Kosova Museum, built by Austrians for the Turkish army in 1898, which houses a vast collection of archaeological and ethnological artifacts, including the Neolithic Goddess on a Throne terracotta. Visit the Çarshi Mosque, the oldest building in Pristina, constructed in the 15th century by Turkish Sultan Bajazit. Then, proceed to the Academy Building, a 19th-century Ottoman konak-style private house. Explore the Fatih Mosque or Imperial Mosque, built in 1461 under Turkish Sultan Mehmed II Fatih, and the Great Hammam, a bath complex from 1470 adorned with 15 domes. Enjoy lunch in Prishtina before driving to Skopje. Spend a free evening in Skopje and stay overnight.
SKOPJE - OHRID - TIRANA (300 KM)
Skopje - After breakfast, take a walk around the city center of Skopje, the capital of Macedonia. This walking tour offers a chance to delve into the city’s rich history and culture. Start at Skopje Fortress, where you can enjoy a stunning view of the city. Next, visit the Church of the Holy Savior, known for its remarkable iconostasis. Continue to Sultan Murat Mosque and the Old Bazaar, where you can see remnants of the Ottoman Period and Skopje’s history as a major trade center in the Balkans. Cross the Vadar River to explore a different part of the city, visiting the new neo-classical square and the Mother Teresa memorial house. The walking tour concludes at the newly constructed triumphal arch, Porta Macedonia, before driving to Ohrid.
Ohrid - Drive from Skopje to Ohrid and start your visit at the Church of St. Sophia, dating back to the 11th century. Then, see the Roman amphitheater from the 3rd century B.C. Continue to the Icon Gallery, and nearby, visit the Church of St. Clement’s, also known as the Church of the Holy Mother of God Most Glorious, dating back to the 13th century. Proceed to Tsar Samoil’s Fortress and then to Plaoshnik, where you’ll visit the newly built St. Clement’s Monastery Church. Dedicated to St. Clement, the patron of Ohrid, and St. Panteleimon, it stands next to the original site of St. Clement’s University, the first university of the Macedonian Slavs, founded in the 9th century A.D. Finally, head to the Church of St. Jovan at Kaneo, built at the end of the 13th century and one of the most visited churches in Ohrid. Return to Tirana.
