The first stop is Cernin Palace. During World War II, it served as the seat of the Reich Protector. Jan Masaryk, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and son of T. G. Masaryk, resided and worked here until his mysterious death in 1948, the year of the Communist coup. The palace is located near the Loreto and currently houses the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

• Panenské Břežany, Zámek - This fascinating tour also includes a drive outside Prague to visit the former villas of R. Heydrich and K. H. Frank in Panenské Břežany, approximately a 30-minute drive from Prague. The Upper Castle, once K. H. Frank’s villa, now features an impressive World War II exhibition.

The Lower Castle in Panenské Břežany was not Reinhard Heydrich’s residence. It was confiscated from Ferdinand Bloch-Bauer, a Jewish businessman of Czech nationality, who fled before the Nazi invasion. Heydrich was assassinated by a Czech commando squad trained in Britain in 1942, and his name remains infamous.

Heider Heydrich, his son, has sparked controversy by offering to help restore the dilapidated castle in Panenské Břežany, where he once lived, leading to thousands signing an online petition against his proposal.

• St Cyril and St Methodius Cathedral - In May 1942, two Czechoslovak paratroopers, sent by their government in exile in London, assassinated Reinhard Heydrich, the Nazi overseer of Czechoslovakia. After the attack, the paratroopers and several partisans sought refuge in the crypt of St. Cyril and Methodius Cathedral.

Unfortunately, a betrayal led the Germans to their location. When shooting their way in failed, the Germans flooded the crypt with water. Realizing escape was impossible, the resistance fighters took their own lives. This dramatic story is recounted in a museum within the church’s crypt, known as the National Memorial to the Heroes of the Heydrich Terror. The assassination resulted in the tragic loss of many innocent lives, including nearly all the residents of the village of Lidice.

• Military History Institute in Prague: The Army Museum Žižkov - The tour includes a visit to the Military History Museum of the Czech Republic.
