Hiking along the levadas is a must-see adventure in Madeira - Elvio gave us an excellent tour of the Rabaçal valley, the levada, and the 25 Fontes and Risco Waterfall. He picked us up at our hotel in Funchal and drove us to the jumping off point for the hike. Elvio then guided us on the three-hour long hike to the waterfall. Much of trail follows the levada. In fact, the trail serves to provide access to workers who maintain the levada. We saw some of these workers on our hike. The valley scenery is beautiful, the levada is interesting, and the waterfall is impressive. Note that this hike is popular. We encountered crowds of people on our hike. In some places the trail is narrow, though guarded with hand rails. Also, part of the trail along the levada was closed, which required us to climb up and over a hill on a challenging set of stone steps. Elvio checked on us and on the other members of our small group frequently. All were safe. One simply must see the levadas when visiting Madeira. For the less-informed, the levadas are man-made aqueducts or channels that carry fresh water from the rainier northwest mountains to the drier southeast populated areas. Explore Nature offers a great tour with a great tour guide. Five Stars! Highest recommendation!

Easy walk with great views - Easy booking process with good communication. The guide was excellent and tailored his tour to the young adults well. The van was clean and comfortable.

Very pleasant walk - Pedro was a great guide, he took the time to explain the local vegetation and the history of the place. Very charming walk, rather flat, with some stairs. To pass through the tunnel, it is strongly recommended to have waterproof shoes.

Company cancelled at last minute - Difficult to write a review…as the company cancelled the evening before our 8.30am trip the next day! No reason, just a “we have cancelled your trip”. Tried to find an alternative for the day as we were leaving the following day…but of course everything else was booked or not available. Later got a note from Tripadvisor saying it was due to the weather (the whole island was in sun with a light breeze). Very disappointing, and my fist negative review ever on Tripadvisor.

Poor communication & allows you to book a trip on a closed trail! - The night before we're meant to leave I quickly have a look at the trail on google maps and notice it's marked as closed. Looks like it had been closed for months (so why could I even book this trip?) I contact Explore Nature twice, with no reply. I then contact Viator who look into it for me and tell me it's been cancelled. After Viator had reached out on my request I did get an email from the company telling me it was cancelled because of bad weather (the weather was absolutely perfect for hiking, slightly overcast with zero rain). Everyones time is a little precious, especially on holiday. This company seem very happy to waste it for you.

Don’t bother - They never showed up. After 3 emails to them saying our departure point was cruise port, they never showed up. Terrible communication. Trying to get a refund

Bad communication - They canceled our trip 8pm the night before it was to take place. Their reason was “bad weather”. It was 70 and sunny the day of the walk. I understand it was probably canceled do to lack of people, but I should have been told that and possibly given the option to pay more to go. Very disappointed

Crap don’t bother - Absolute rip off , trip was cancelled 11pm the night before, stating weather conditions as reason , when weather was absolutely fine, guessing not enough people booked, still no sign of refund!
