Embark on a full-day private SUV eco-tour from Lisbon to Monsanto and explore Dragonstone, one of the most recognizable locations from House of the Dragon, the prequel to the acclaimed TV series Game of Thrones. This iconic and fictional setting in the Targaryen saga was filmed at the Mountain and Castle of Monsanto in Portugal, a fortress-village dating back to the era of the first Knights Templar. Monsanto is prominently featured as Dragonstone in several episodes, particularly showcasing its most stunning scenes in the thrilling tenth and final episode of House of the Dragon. The location needed to be extraordinary, otherworldly, and full of mystique to serve as the epic finale. As the HBO series’ director remarked, “when we saw Monsanto, on a mountain, our jaws dropped and we felt we had found Dragonstone,” the home of House Targaryen in House of the Dragon. Be amazed and immerse yourself in the scenic fantasy world of House of the Dragon and Game of Thrones, while also learning about local landmarks.
