Hanoi City Hop On Hop Off (Route)

Operating Schedule: 8:30 am - 9:30 pm from Monday to Thursday, and 8:30 am – 8:00 pm from Friday to Sunday.
The meeting point is at Dong Kinh Nghia Thuc Square, 7 Dinh Tien Hoang from Monday to 7:00 pm on Friday, and at Hanoi Opera House from 7:30 pm on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
With a 24-hour valid ticket, travelers can enjoy both day and night tours. However, after 5 pm, the buses operate without stopping, so travelers cannot hop on and off.

2. St. Joseph Cathedral
St. Joseph’s Cathedral, built in 1884, features an architectural style similar to the Notre Dame de Paris. It was one of the first structures erected by the French colonial government in French Indochina, opening in December 1886. It is the oldest church in Hanoi and has no entrance fee.

3. Vietnam Military History Museum
The Flag Tower of Hanoi is one of the few architectural works in Hanoi Citadel that survived the French domination administration between 1894 and 1897. It has stood for nearly 200 years and is now recognized as one of Hanoi’s historic symbols.

4. Ho Chi Minh’s Mausoleum
The President Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum serves as the resting place of Vietnamese revolutionary leader and President Ho Chi Minh in Hanoi, Vietnam. This large building is located in the center of Ba Dinh Square, where Ho, Chairman of the Workers’ Party of Vietnam from 1951 until his death in 1969, read the Declaration of Independence on September 2, 1945, establishing the Democratic Republic of Vietnam.

5. One Pillar Pagoda
The One Pillar Pagoda is a temple with a unique structure: a building supported by a single pillar. The original pagoda was constructed in 1049, with additions made and completed in 1105. It is considered, along with the Perfume Temple, as one of Vietnam’s two most iconic temples. There is no entrance fee.

6. Tran Quoc Pagoda
The Tran Quoc Pagoda in Hanoi is the city’s oldest pagoda, originally built in the sixth century during the reign of Emperor Ly Nam De (from 544 until 548), making it over 1,500 years old.

7. Công viên Yên Sở
Cua Bac Church is a Roman Catholic church in Hanoi, Vietnam. Constructed in 1932 by the French administration of Indochina as part of Hanoi’s urban plan supervised by Ernest Hébrard, Cua Bac Church is now one of the three major churches in Hanoi, alongside Ham Long Church and Saint Joseph Cathedral.

8. Quan Thanh Temple
Quan Thanh Temple was established during the reign of Emperor Ly Thái To (reigned 1010–1028) and is dedicated to Tran Vu, Deity of the North in Taoism, whose symbols of power are the serpent and turtle. It is one of the Four Sacred Temples built in four directions to protect the capital from malevolent spirits.

9. Imperial Citadel of Thang Long
The Thang Long Imperial Citadel was constructed in the 11th century by the Ly Viet Dynasty, marking the independence of the Dai Viet. It was built on the remains of a Chinese fortress dating from the 7th century, on land reclaimed from the Red River Delta in Hanoi.

10. Temple Of Literature
Van Mieu is a temple dedicated to Confucius in Hanoi, northern Vietnam. The temple also houses the Imperial Academy, Vietnam’s first national university. Built in 1070 during the reign of Emperor Ly Thanh Tong, it is one of several temples in Vietnam dedicated to Confucius, sages, and scholars.

11. Hoa Lo Prison Relic
Hoa Lo Prison was originally used by the French colonists in Indochina for political prisoners, and later by North Vietnam for U.S. prisoners of war during the Vietnam War. During this period, it was known to American POWs as the “Hanoi Hilton”. The prison was demolished in the 1990s, but the gatehouse remains as a museum.

12. Vietnamese Women’s Museum
The Vietnamese Women’s Museum, established and operated by the Vietnam Women’s Union, officially opened to the public in 1995. It boasts a diverse collection of over 40,000 materials and artifacts related to Vietnamese women. In addition to permanent exhibits, the museum also organizes special thematic exhibitions with a new approach to social anthropology, reflecting the development and changes of contemporary society through projects targeting various groups, particularly vulnerable women and disadvantaged children.

13. Hanoi Opera House
The Hanoi Opera House, also known as the Grand Opera House, is located in central Hanoi, Vietnam. It was constructed by the French colonial administration between 1901 and 1911. The Hanoi Opera House is one of three opera houses built by the French during their time in Indochina, the others being the Haiphong Opera House and the Municipal Theatre in Ho Chi Minh City.

14. 75 P. Đinh Tiên Hoàng
The Hanoi Post Office, over 100 years old, is a symbol of the capital. Designed and built by Henri Vildieu from 1894 to 1899, the Hanoi Post Office features a neoclassical architectural style. This complex has existed for 125 years and is familiarly known as the “Post office by the lake”.
