• North Hampton State Beach - A top destination on the route, offering stunning views. North Hampton Beach is serene and tranquil, with vistas of the elegant Little Boars Head and the Isles of Shoals.
• Wallis Sands State Beach - An excellent spot for photography. Eight islands, located six miles off Rye’s coast, became a fishing hub for native peoples and Portuguese fishermen from the 1500s. By the early 1600s, European fishermen had established thriving permanent settlements there until the 1800s.
• Rye Harbor State Park - A brief stop will be made here to discuss the Captain John Smith Memorial and his 1614 visit to the area.
• Odiorne Point State Park - Once a “true wilderness” until about 400 years ago, Odiorne Point was first discovered by the Abenaki and Penacook Native American tribes, who called it “Pennaway” and only visited while passing through. They utilized the abundant resources, including coastal fishing and clam and mussel digging. Permanent settlement began in the 1600s. In 1623, Englishman David Thompson sailed on the Jonathan to settle along the New England coast, becoming the first to settle in New Hampshire at Odiorne Point. In 1660, John Odiorne joined the settlement, acquiring extensive land and shoreline, which later became the state park named after him. The site also features forts and bunkers dating back to the Civil War.

• Great Island Common - A stop at the mouth of the Piscataqua River to briefly discuss the five military installations, lighthouses, and islands in the Atlantic Ocean.
• Prescott Park - Charles Prescott of Erie, PA, left $3 million to his sisters Josie and Mary Prescott in Portsmouth, NH, who used the funds to create Prescott Park. The Prescott sisters are directly responsible for the park’s creation, which includes over 10 acres of fountains and waterfront gardens along the Piscataqua River. Several historic warehouses, such as the Sheaf Warehouse, which outfitted the USS Ranger captained by John Paul Jones, were preserved from destruction.
• Wentworth by the Sea - A historic landmark in New Castle since its construction by the Campbell family in 1874. Local beer tycoon Frank Jones expanded the hotel after purchasing it in 1879 and owned it until his death in 1902. The hotel hosted delegates for the signing of the Treaty of Portsmouth in 1905, ending the Russo-Japanese War. This exclusive luxury hotel welcomed visitors like Prince Charles, the Roosevelts, the Kennedys, and other celebrities. In the 1980s, the hotel closed amid economic downturns, leading to its deterioration.
