- CARTOPIA FOOD CARTS - Join Lost Plate Food Tours for a delicious foodie adventure through Portland’s colorful Central Eastside neighborhood. From here, we’ll set our to 3 more locations trying a total of 6-7 delectable dishes.
- Hawthorne Asylum Food Cart Pod - One of Portland’s largest (and coolest) food cart pods sits on the former grounds of the Oregon Hospital for the Insane. Mentally prepare yourself to try 4 insanely delicious dishes that we’ve hand-picked to highlight the diversity of our local food cart scene.
- Portland - Just a stone’s throw across the river from Downtown, Portland’s Industrial Eastside neighborhood is celebrated for its vibrant murals, interactive art installations, and quirky history.
- Goat Blocks - Our favorite patio in Portland is home to a local brewery with a major legacy behind it. We’ll sample their beer, made with locally grown ingredients, and top off our afternoon with a fresh-baked pretzel stick dipped in beer cheese.

With over 1,000 food carts scattered throughout the city, join us as we explore some of the best and savor the delicious foods that make Portland a true haven for food lovers. On this walking tour, you’ll experience global cuisines, enjoy refreshing drinks, and learn fascinating history in this vibrant neighborhood. We believe this is the ideal way to uncover quirky Portland, dine like a local, and have a great time!
Tour highlights:
- Enjoy generous portions of food and drinks from 5-7 different food carts, including a stop at a food hall and a final visit to a local brewery. You’ll get more than a full meal!
- Discover the unique culture of Portland’s food carts. (We don’t call them trucks for a reason.)
- Sample a variety of international dishes such as Slavic, Mexican, Bavarian, and Burmese treats.
- Explore Portland’s historic, off-the-beaten-path Eastside neighborhood and admire the local street art.
- All special dietary requirements must be communicated at time of booking. We are happy to welcome vegetarians and pescatarians, but due to the diverse nature of food carts visited, please note not all stops can be made gluten-free, dairy-free, or vegan.
- This is a walking tour, total walking distance will be approximately 1 miles. Please be prepared to walk in any type of weather. Operates in all weather conditions, please dress appropriately including footwear and umbrella/rain gear.
- This is a smoke-free tour.
- This experience requires a minimum number of travelers. If it’s canceled because the minimum isn’t met, you’ll be offered a different date/experience or a full refund.
- Everyone in your party must book a spot, including children of all ages.
- No pets please.

Cartopia Food Carts: 1207 SE Hawthorne Blvd, Portland OR, 97214. There are two entrances, please use entrance on 12th St near the white bike racks. Your guide will be at a table there, or if wet/rainy will be under covered area, and will have a yellow sign and yellow bag on table.

Highly recommend - The food was excellent! All fresh and quality ingredients . Our guide, Herb, was knowledgeable and enjoyable. It was a fun afternoon. I highly recommend this tour.

A delicious Portland experience - Great food, vendors, and guide! Herb was the perfect storyteller to take us on our journey through Portland, sharing wisdom, anecdotes, and context as we enjoyed sip after sip and bite after bite. Both visitors and locals alike loved the experience, leaving with not only full bellies but also a new cohort of well-sated friends. Bonus: I have a new favorite taco stand, which makes the best street food tacos I've had outside Mexico City!

Lovely food tour! - I thoroughly enjoyed the tour with Michelle! She was very friendly and gave a lot of information about each of the food items we tried, along with the food cart/pod/hall/brewery associated with the food. I loved learning about Portland history in regard to the food destinations. The food choices were delicious and diverse in its offerings!

Fantastic food, wonderful tour - My husband and I had a blast on this tour! Herb is a wonderful tour guide, friendly, engaging, and incredibly knowledgeable about Portland. We are admittedly not the most adventurous eaters, but wanted to try the Portland food scene, and we're so glad we did! Not only did we learn the history of the food cart scene and the area, but the food was amazing. We ate incredible food from cuisines around the world. If (when) we return to Portland, we'll have to try one of the other tours offered by this company,

Great tour with tasty food and enthusiastic local knowledge - My wife and I did the Portland Food Carts, Pods and Patios tour this afternoon. Our guide was Herb and he was great! We had three hours of tasting interesting food from all over the world — including Ukraine, Burma (now Myanmar), Mexico, Canada and Thailand. Herb was great and really made the tour come alive with his knowledge of the Portland food scene and cultural history. What a nice experience!

Outstanding tour with Herb S! - I loved this tour having never been to Portland before! Each bite was delicious and our guide Herb S. was very knowledgeable about food pod, food carts, and Portland in general. Highly recommend this for outstanding bites and getting to know the city!

Foodie Paradise - Portland's food trucks are a true destination! We learned so much about the history, the present and the future of this industry. And the food is created with passion.

Excellent food cart tour - Herb was fantastic and the foods picked out were incredible! I learned a lot on this tour, and was able to try many great dishes and drinks. Each food cart was amazing, the different food cart "pods" we went to were spectacular. Such a great variety! Incredible fresh tastes! Thank you! 11 gold stars!
