Highlights
  • Around Portland Tours - We’ll start by fitting you for bikes at our shop at 833 SE Main Street #121, before we head out in comfortable vans on the day’s excursion.
  • Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area - After we fit you for bikes at our shop, we’ll head out in one of our comfortable vans. The bike ride and hike both take place in the Columbia River Gorge, in the waterfall-laden western end of an 80-mile (130-km) canyon. The road we use for the bike ride is a shared road with cars.
  • Multnomah Falls - (Or the Vista House / Chanticleer Point) Visit a beautiful vista of the Columbia River Gorge, take photos, and hear the story of who was here before us. We’ll also tell you how the waterfalls were created before getting on your bikes and beginning to ride.
  • Latourell Falls - (Or Horsetail Falls) Get off your bike and start the true immersion in the forest, what the Japanese call Shinrin Yoku. We’ll walk around the creek containing stunning plunge-style waterfalls, which tumbles over layers of 15 million-year-old columnar and entablature basalt frosted with lichens and, according to local legend, carries the spirit of a Beaver princess who led a tragic life. We’ll send you on a locals-favorite hike. Breathe deep: you’ll experience the rich variety of the forest with all its healing power and spiritual truths.
  • Bridal Veil Falls State Park - (Or a similar waterfall) We’ll ride our bikes a little more, 2-4 miles (3-6 km) more before seeing one of the most beautiful and little-visited viewpoints in the Gorge. In the spring it is a carpet of camas, a native food.
  • Multnomah Falls - Multnomah Falls is the tallest waterfall in the state and one of the most impressive, and most photographed, waterfalls in the U.S. If you’re chasing waterfalls: this is the one many are seeking to catch. We’ll stop at the falls for photos and the 1/4 mile / 1/2 km hike to the iconic Benson Bridge.

Additional Information

This is our favorite tour! One of the most unique experiences in the world, riding down the historic highway built for Model Ts with the spectacular Columbia Gorge unfolding beneath us. We transport our guests and bikes in comfortable vans, and our guides ride with our small groups for much of the ride. You’ll get personal attention and the safest experience we can provide.

Beyond the 180 years of pioneers and loggers, before the century-old highway, this was the land of people with a rich mythology. We tell the stories that have been told to us by the indigenous people as best we can.

You’ll visit waterfalls, with engaged hiking and a leisurely approach to the tour itinerary. We want you to enjoy yourself – whether you are traveling alone or with a big group. Ages 13 and up. (We can accommodate much bigger groups traveling together, please reach out!)

Please note there are cars that share the scenic highway.

An adventure not to be missed! - Our bike through Columbia River Gorge was the highlight of our trip to Oregon!! Angela was an amazing tour guide - so informative throughout the drive as well as the hike. She even led us to some fabulous wild blackberries along the way!! All four of us are casual bikers for the most part, and while parts are challenging, the ride was totally doable and even more so enjoyable. When my twelve year old had had enough climbs on the bike for the day, he was able to ride along in the support van and still join us for the hikes. All in all an absolutely magnificent way to explore this part of nature’s bounty!!

Active sightseeing with lots of breathtaking beauty! - Really great! I am a very active person, so any time I can combine activity with sightseeing, I’m all in! The staff at the meeting point were all terrific. We got fitted for our bikes and helmets in a timely manner and were in the van ready to explore. Angela, the tour guide, was informative, friendly, and helpful. She did a wonderful job communicating how to get to each waterfall and gave us lots of information about Portland and Oregon as we drove to and from our destination. I had such a great time talking with all the members of the group while fitting in some hiking, biking, and taking photos. Thank you for a memorable experience! Highly recommend!

Great day I - So glad I decided to get off the Amtrak train and visit Portland. Cycling was the best way to see this small but beautiful part of the Columbia George. Angela our guide was so knowledgeable and passionate about Portland and Oregon. This made it a wonderful day.

Perfect! - Sarah was an excellent guide, providing us with tidbits of Portland and Columbia River information. They take time to fit you with the right bike and helmet. Best day ever! - This trip was the best! The guide was knowledgeable, professional and fun! We felt safe the entire time, even though you do ride on the open road. The stops were so picturesque. I can not say enough. The group was small and we met great people.

Wonderful morning - The hike/bike experience is a great way to spend a morning if you want to get out of Portland for a bit. The scenery is gorgeous and learning about the history of the area is a bonus. Angela was a super tour guide. The hike and bike is not strenuous at all so if you are looking for an activity to make you sweat- this is not for you! The cherry on top was arriving back at the shop and being able to walk a few blocks to food trucks for lunch.

More Walk, Less Woke. - Clearly seeing the Falls were the highlight. Omitting walk to top of Latourell and Multnomah Falls disappointing. If too much is being crammed in, the skip the blueberry farm and Vista House and stick to just the Falls. Also, the guide should leave her "woke" commentary at home. Did not sign-up for a White Man bashing.
