History and A Bit of Exercise Too! - Beautiful fall day with awesome land and water views. We've been to Portland multiple times and this is the first time we've seen this experience. Our guide was able to give us the history of the fort and island from the Civil War to WWII. The walking tour was easy from the fort to the inside rooms and passage ways. Would recommend it if you're wanting to see Portland's past and get in your steps at the same time!

Must do - Beautiful views on the ride over. We saw some seals and other wildlife. The crew was very knowledgeable about the history of the area and the fort we were visiting. The fort will bring you back in time. It’s not touristy so you feel like you are discovering it for yourself. Highly recommended!

Perfect combo of exploring, history, and boat ride - This tour was amazing. Our captain was very knowledgeable, and eager to share history about the island. We explored areas with amazing stories behind them, and enjoyed a smooth boat ride, with great views and tasty drinks. He even let me call my dad (retired disabled Marine/war history buff) on speaker phone to catch his stories. We saw seals, and a deer. I would absolutely recommend this trip!

A history lesson with a view! - Booked this experience on our last day to get out on the water and was blow away by the experience. The tour of the island was amazing, and Pete was such an amazing historian. We learned so much, enjoyed the beautiful views, and had an amazing experience to tell others about.

Fantastic tour, right amount of time - The tour was fantastic. As a history guy, the guide’s knowledge of the fort was terrific. Understanding how the fort was built, size of the canons planned and ultimately used was interesting and it wasn’t too long so it kept the group fresh. The boat ride was a good 15-20 minutes and not too choppy. The only thing (outside the group’s control) was the 11am tour had fog that prevented us from seeing mainland or other parts of the area.

Outstanding Tour! - The narrative on the ride out to the fort and then the expert, knowledgeable tour guide on the island. The fort is amazing! Well worth going, a real highlight of our trip!

Learn something new! - All three crew members were super knowledgable and friendly! Some personal stories of the actual people who worked on the island would have been cool. But if you are into military history about guns, gun powder, architecture, stone building then I would highly recommend. The views are perfection!
