1/2 day tour just perfect - This was a fabulous trip, we managed to be lucky and have only 6 people onboard. For an overcast and a little bit of chop on the water, the viewing was good. We snorkelled a couple of larger bombies and then into the shoreline of the Low Isles. We saw crayfish, bluebone, snapper, reef shark, coral fish and more. The glass bottom boat was good and informative, more coral fish and turtle spotting. The skipper certainly gave us food for thought. My husband and I debated the topics discussed over dinner. The half day was just perfect and the crew and tour worth doing. We would take the tour again

Amazing experience - Amazing experience, we were lucky with the weather. The guides were super kind, welcoming and caring. A special morning, seeing the reef, wandering around the island and on the way back seeing humpback whales. The day will be engraved in our memories forever. Thank you Calypso!

- Enjoyed the adventure as older people. Interesting tour of coral with narration by Jorge. Fabulous snorkelling experience with Alison. Informative nature tour by Nicole and a wonderful energetic intro and safety guide by both alison and Nicole. Jorge’s piloting of the vessels was outstanding. We had a great time. Magnificent area to visit.

Awesome experience to be repeated! - Had a fabulous time - small friendly group were assisted by friendly and helpful crew. Had an absolutely wonderful time snorkeling and viewing the range of sea life - fish, coral, turtles etc. Half day was a good test to see how I would go with snorkeling in the reef - so now looking forward to the next trip to Port Douglas to participate in the day trip to Outer Reef.

Perfect family reef experience - We had the best (half) day ever with Calypso on their Low Isles cruise!
Went as a mixed group — including grandparents, toddler, and a pair of very excited 5-year-olds — and honestly it was just perfect for our group.
The tour size was really intimate, so it never felt crowded which was a surprise as we went during peak school holiday season. The crew and skipper were brilliant - super friendly yet professional and made sure everyone was looked after and felt comfortable.
The 5 year olds had a magical first time snorkelling experience and spotted turtles, little reef sharks, an octopus and loads of fish! Our toddler also had a blast exploring the island and on the glass bottom tour.
BYO towels but everything else is provided, including snorkelling gear, noodles/life vests for the kids.
To top it all off, we were all treated to a pod of playful dolphins that swam alongside the boat on the way back, making it extra special!
Couldn’t recommend this more for families with small kids. Shout out to the awesome Calypso team for making it so memorable!

“Best day ever” for little kids! - “Best day ever” according to my five year old and her BFF! Great for family with young kids like ours. Our daughters’ first time snorkelling and we saw turtles, octopus, wrasse, octopus and so much more! And to finish off an amazing time, dolphins literally swam and played off the bow on our way back. Loved it. Great crew (Mike, Charlie and Nat!), basic but comfortable boat and good gear. All round excellent from our family and friends we travelled with.

The half day trips out of Low Isle is a rip off and waste of time. - Overpriced and poor value. Max 1-1.5 hours of activity time, it’s very very basic snorkel gear hire, not very good quality ones mine kept leaking in water through the mouth piece. Corals unremarkable, mostly muddy color, also very shallow you could easily cut yourself. Water clarity is poor. The beach sands are very harsh with lots of corals so not the most comfortable to walk on or relax. Probably the most entry level place you can find on the reef, maybe go there for young child’s first snorkel they might love it. Otherwise can’t think of any reason why anybody would go there.

If you want to see nothing, then go to the low isles - The tour was not much of anything. We have snorkelled in various different places, but never was visibilty as bad as here. Too much stirred up sand (we went in the afternoon). You could only see something, if it was 1m underneath you. And even that looked dull and boring. The time on the island was so short, that as soon as you got comfortable and settled in, you had to leave again. The crew was nice though and well organized. So no complaints about them. But in the end, it was half of a day and a lot of money wasted on a poor experience...
