Excellent experience - Wanted to do this trip as I’d been before with Hugo to do the East trip 8 years ago. Came with my two sons and I wanted them to share the experience of Madeira and especially Hit the Road. We weren’t disappointed. Tiago picked us up and took us to so many places, up high and down to the coast. Both my sons enjoyed it very much and want to return again with my grandchildren. I would highly recommend booking with Hit the Road Madeira. The guides are so knowledgeable and such fun. Thank you Tiago for another memorable trip.

A great way to experience Madeira beyond Funchal - This was a great tour, taking us to some of the well known highlights but also some of the lesser known sights and places in Madeira. I have done two tours with Hit the Road and both were great. The guide Fabio was very friendly and helpful. All in all it was a great way to see some of Madeira beyond Funchal without a car.

Exceptional Service - Beware of Imposters! Not ALL "small group tours" are what they say they are. Hit The Road Are A Small, Individual Group tour. You are out on your own - max 8 - in your jeep with your driver/host for the day. They will tailor the day as you like but one of their main priorities is to get you to places Before the other jeep tours or cruise ship coaches arrive. We have seen other "small group tours" arrive after us - in a convoy of 3/4 jeeps where the main driver talks to all the jeeps via a headset and therefore you don't get to interact with your driver, chatting about life on the island..exchanging stories... This year we had a West tour with Fabio - you're brilliant Fabio! We also took a Levada walk with Vitor - "mind the branches, mind your heads" - you need it on a recording Vitor! Last year we enjoyed an East tour with Hugo full of stories, we had an amazing day out. Hit The Road has 2 offshoot travel companies Shut Up & Eat food tours and The Big Walk Levada tours with a certified mountain guide. The customer experience is top priority. Staff contact and communication is excellent. Thank you Jeff for everything- we'll be back for more next year !

Great experience on our first visit to Madeira - This was our first trip to Madeira and it was part of a longer visit to Portugal. We had 2 1/2 days to explore. First let me say that 2 1/2 days is not enough time to truly see the island. I think you need at least a week and multiple visits. Having said that, we booked a 1/2 day afternoon (East) tour (day of arrival) and a full day tour (West and North). Both were private jeep tours since my hubby doesn’t like crowds. We had an excellent experience! We got a great overview of the island, picking and choosing stops based on our preferences and the weather. Our tour leaders were checking island webcams to check on weather and view conditions. Once you leave the “highway” the roads in Madeira are steep and winding. We were happy to have an experienced driver. We did some off-roading where you would never dare to bring your rental car. I highly recommend this jeep tour company - it was a great way to experience a lot of the island over a short period of time. It gave us some confidence to explore on our own for our last day in Madeira - seeing and visiting some spots (and avoiding some others that are popular on the internet) that we missed.

Perfect way to see Madeira - Just fabulous- as was our guide, Fabio! I highly recommend Hit the Road Tours. As for the sites we visited, it was impossible to take a bad photograph, everything was so beautiful. I learned about Poncha, a local Madeiran drink - it sure packs a punch! Also Fabio avoided the crowds of other tourists, so we had some of the stops all by ourselves! I had the time of my life!

Fun day with Fabulous Fabio - Excellent tour around the west of Madeira with Fabio our guide. The reverse itinerary to other tour companies is great as you miss the crowds at each stop. There is so much to see on Madeira and these tours are a great way to see them. Fabio is an excellent guide, he has excellent knowledge of the island and he clearly loves it. He has a great sense of humour, and he knows all the good poncha stops. 8 hours went by so quickly.

West 4x4 Tour - Great Introduction to Madeira - We took the West 4x4 Tour & East 4x4 Tour on back-to-back days at the beginning of our holiday to get a feel for the island. We weren't disappointed, Madeira is a beautiful island and these tours showcased the highlights prefectly. Each trip was in a six passenger 4x4 so we got to meet some other interesting travellers. The tours aimed to avoid the crowds with a flexible timetable and the use of island webcams to see if the peaks were covered in fog (they were on the second trip). Both Vitor and Fabio, our guides on each day were local and had great knowledge of the history, people and flora we saw along the way. The booking and pickup arrangements were handled perfectly by Elisa and Jeff via email and WhatsApp so we knew were to be and what kit was required. Specifically for the West Tour - beating the crowds at the Cabo Girao viewpoint. The weather was very windy so we saw some great high seas breaking over the rock pools. Our guide knew some great offroad tracks to keep us away from the traffic and thrilled by the ride!
