Fantastic! - We had a wonderful time on our tour! There were just the 3 of us and our tour guide. We went all over the island, even stopped for a small coffee in a cute little town with hot springs!

Beautiful inland coutryside - Fantastic way to ride through the countryside on our last day on San Miguel. We saw countryside that we had missed after two days of coastal driving to the east and to the west. Ruben was a delightful tour guide, knowledgeable, humorous, and safe. A great family afternoon!

We definitely found adventure! - It was easy to book via TripAdvisor for a tour, and we received a confirmation call the day before. On the day of, the guides helped us get fitted with helmets, made sure we were comfortable with the controls and could do a lap around the parking lot. One of the other couples came with only light clothing, and the staff let them borrow jackets as it tends to get cold with the wind.
The ride was so much fun. We drove on everything from flat roads to hilly gravel to dirt paths, and even crossed a small river at one point. Sometimes we had to drive around traffic, and sometimes we had to wait for cows to cross. We stopped at beaches and hot springs and waterfalls and other miradors. The guide was really good giving us feedback to ensure we drove well as a group.
Only watch out is that some parts can get really dusty, and it will get into your clothes and backpacks.

Buggy Tour to Sete Cidades - Today we had the pleasure of enjoying a great buggy tour to Sete Cidades. Ruben was our guide and he was a true gentleman. Kind and full of good information! We will share this information to all our friends who visit St. Michael, back in the States. Thank you Ruben for a great tour!

Lots of fun - Great views and informative tour guide. Took lots of great photos for us. Would do it again and would recommend this tour company. Since nobody else was booked on our tour, our tour guide took us to more places than planned.

A unique experience with this company and how they handled the situation - Here is my review and will let the reader be the judge. I have a tremendous respect for Viator and Trip Advisor - have been a long time member of the community and appreciate all the insights. Staying in Madeira I pulled up all Viator recommendations for activities nearby and this Quad looked so fun. It’s based out of Ponta Delgado so was ok with the drive to the other side of the island and even put the hotel we were staying at in the reservation. Made reservations within 24 hours, so expectedly there was no refund on cancelation. However one small shared mistake: the quad tour is in the neighboring Canary Islands (300-500 miles away) in the town of Ponta Delgado. How it came up in my local Madeira search, the same town names, and vague description of these two islands owned by Portugal surprised me. But here is where it breaks down. Calling this tour provider directly to discuss the problem and seeking some help was actually disturbing. “Sorry for your mistake but we aren’t refunding you any money.” “Our policy is our policy and we don’t care that this was made in error. We can see how this could have been mistaken. You aren’t getting your money back.”
Is losing $300 going to change my life - no, probably not. I think what stands out to me is the lack of any understanding, effort to make an exception or even discuss an alternative. For example “Sorry we cannot give you any refund - how ever this is quite and unusual circumstance and should you ever make it over to our Island, please feel free to use this as a credit. Or 50 percent credit. Or 5 percent credit”. That could be a an idea that would have showed some compromise (and likely never to have been used).
I teach business classes. This company followed their stated policy of no refunds proudly and I read the policy prior to paying. No harm no foul. They keep my $300. Here is some free advice though: Be careful not to lose sight that this is a people business and that how you treat your customers matters. You can’t make exceptions for everyone and have to decide your course of action and the impact to your business financially and through customer sentiment. This customer believes you got it very wrong on this one.
