Great Guide & Tour - Jose was our tour guide on the 4x4 tour to Sete Cidades. Unfortunately, the weather was not cooperative, and Jose tried his best to show us all the sights , even though it was extremely foggy. He gave us a lot of information about the island and all the volcanoes. Would recommend booking this tour.

Skilled, Knowledgeable Tour Guide & Beautiful Views - My dad and I booked a last minute half day to Sete Cidades after an attempt earlier in the week (with a different tour provider) to see the lakes and caldeira was 100% thwarted by extremely dense fog. I’m so glad we did - José was a fount of knowledge about Sete Cidades, volcanism, São Miguel’s geography, and Azorean history. As we drove along the volcano’s rim (a route only accessible by 4x4, ATV, biking or hiking), we learned so much about this part of the island while catching amazing views. It’s probably not the most important element of the experience, but worth noting that José is an excellent driver and navigator on technically challenging roads, in addition to being a thoughtful and experienced tour guide. We never felt rushed, but the tour was also efficient and well-timed. Was a great final activity before we left the archipelago.

Fun trip to Sete Cidades - Juan met us at the designated place, drove through town and country to get a feel for the area. He was very knowledgeable about the flora and fauna and geographical history as well as political history. We had a WC break and there was a snack bar and gift shop.

Deserves 5 stars - You will not be disappointed if you book!
Our guide was both knowledgeable and passionate
He made us feel welcomed and relaxed throughout the tour. At no point were we hurried or rushed. In fact, we were encouraged to take our time to enjoy and explore
From the moment we arrived until the final goodbye, we were given history, facts, figures and wildlife information to deepen our understanding of the many places we explored and things we saw
If you are researching who to book with…look no further. We can only highly recommend

Best Guide! - José was incredible. Very knowledgeable and an excellent driver, navigating the roads around the canyons.
Jose's knowledge of the area and history of Sete Cidades was thorough and interesting. A highlight of our trip.

A fabulous tour - not to be missed - We had an amazing morning on our rim tour with Jose. He shared a wealth of information with us regarding the island and the Sete Cidades rim and area. Touring with a licensed naturalist was a bonus. Jose was an incredible driver, as he navigated the rim “road” (dirt & stone trail). We made multiple stops for photos and short walks. At the bottom of the crater, we enjoyed the opportunity to walk the pennisula on the blue lake. A fabulous tour, which we recommended to friends. They also, had an amazing tour with Jose the following day.

A must do! - Josè picked us up from our hotel which was great. We were quickly on our way and had the most fantastic time.
We got to take in some amazing views (even though the weather wasn’t the best it was still amazing) and learned so much from the knowledge Josè has!
We would highly recommend this and think it was amazing value for money. If we come back to Ponta Delgada we will 100% want to do this again :)

One of the top 5 tours we've ever taken. Highly recommend! - My husband and I have traveled extensively and tend to book a tour with a local tour guide whenever we go to a place for the first time. The tour of Porto Delgada that we took with José of Carpe Diem Tours ranks amongst the very best. José is a native of the island who willingly shared his vast store of history and knowledge of volcanos, floods, soil conditions, and other ecological facts. He also took us to places where we saw some of the most beautiful vistas anywhere on earth. We found him to be a genuinely delightful person. His English is perfect and he talked easily about his personal life while attending to our need for bathroom, drink, and time to spend a few moments to take in the beauty. It was clear that he loves his island and his work which made the four hours spent with him a sheer delight.

Best Jeep tour ever - This was one of the best tours I have ever had in any country. Our guide was very knowledgeable and wonderful to learn from. My parents had been on a two week trip with multiple guides prior to this experience and said they learned more about the island in 4 hours on this tour than they had in the entire 2 weeks prior. We highly recommend this experience!

Loved this tour! - Such a great tour! I would highly recommend this. The views were amazing, it did not disappoint. The weather started out a little cloudy so (José?) took us a different route and by the time we hit the rim the sun was out.
