Perfect day with Talmo! - Talmo was a wonderful guide! He asked us first what we wanted to see on the island. Then he gave us a perfect itinerary for our situation. We ate a a local restaurant for lunch which was delicious and very reasonable. The day flew by!

Perfect fun, quality day! - We 100% recommend this tour.
Telmo was an expert on the Açores, and with enthusiasm and pride shared his knowledge.
Telmo’s knowledge was not only from growing up on the island, but from research into the commercial and governmental programs to optimize the tourist experience. He knew the sites and parks, traditions and festivals, restaurants and experiences to help us celebrate our time in the Açores. We spent the day on the east side of the island, safely navigating the fog so that we were in the right spot at the right time for all the beautiful views. He also insured that we were in the right place to see the caldo stew, a local delicacy, being pulled from the hot springs ground before heading to the restaurant that served it for lunch.
We were worried that we would have to specify the days’ itinerary, since one is not proposed on the booking site, but Telmo came with ideas and suggestions and was more than open to our fine-tuning. We are ao glad we followed his suggestion to see half the island (the east half, due to the weather) rather than trying to do it all in one day. It’s too big to do the whole island justice in 8 hours!
We 100% recommend this tour. Telmo could not possibly have been kinder, or more helpful! We thoroughly enjoyed our day!

Great day out Miguel was fantastic! - Great day out for my family. What made it was the brilliant guide Miguel. We had already seen some of the main attractions but this was no problem for Miguel he tailored our trip to things we hadn’t seen. Started low as the weather wasn’t great and finished high in the craters as the weather cleared. He was very informative and had plenty of stories , nothing was a hassle and we were never rushed. This is a truly private tour with options to stay longer at places you like and skip what you may not find interesting or have seen before!

Exceeded expectation by far!!! - Mariano was terrific. He went above and beyond, his wife even found a puzzle my sister was looking for, bought it and brought to our hotel. I can not believe how warm and friendly Mariano and his wife are. His knowledge was super on the history, flora and fauna of the island and he was always able to answer any questioned we asked. I can not say enough nice things about our tour and how wonderful Mariano was. And with this company I even received a call from Delfim, the guide I had last time on the island, who was great too. He was just checking to see how the tour was going. This company is doing lots right with these two tour guides. Thank you Mariano for making our day on San Miguel so very special.

A full day of incredible sites! - This was an incredible tour! Miguel showed us so many beautiful places; we would have never seen so much on our own. The morning started off with rain and mist and Miguel rearranged our tour so we could have the best possible visibility. He went above and beyond to accommodate us (I currently have a broken ankle). Miguel gave us much information about the island, the volcanoes, the vegetation, as well as information about each village and town we visited or passed through. An excellent tour with an excellent guide, Miguel!

Recommended visit to Sete Cidades with driver - Vasco was our driver and companion for the day. He was punctual in picking us up at the apartment and took us around the western part of the island to visit lakes and cities. There was fluid communication with our Portuñol. Friendly and easy-going person who introduced us on our day 2 of Sao Miguel Island. I recommend this tour with a driver because you can't explore that part of the island with a rental car, and you can only do so with a 4x4 and someone who knows the area. Thank you

From Sete Cidades to Furnas- an excellent tour - The tour itself was superb.
We were collected from our hotel. We had wanted to visit both Sete Cidades for the famous views and Furnas for the equally famous cozido. We were guided that such a trip would not lend itself to an enjoyable day and the guide recommended that we should stay around Sete Cidades.
We assumed that was the order of the day. He asked if we wanted to order a lunch, but as we'd had a big breakfast, and as there was nothing in that area of note, we said no.
We had a great trip to the area, with the 4x4 wrestling up the sides of the caldera in the cloud, alas too cloudy when we surmounted the ridge for a view, until we drove down through the cloud cover and saw the beautiful volcanic lakes. I was limited to where I could go in a wheelchair; normally, I think customers are given free-range to wander, but the ground was too waterlogged for the chair's narrow wheels to go far. We had a comprehensive drive around the area, driving, past the beautiful walk up to the local church (which I would've loved to have visited, maybe on another occasion) and amazing vistas from the edges of the calderas. We chatted about everything from a-z of Azorean life and views- the guide we had was a goldmine of information of everything Azorean!
We were surprised when he suddenly said we would drive to Furnas, though without a preorder we understood we could not sample the famous cozido. The drive along the northern route was information-rich and Furnas really was unmissable with hot water seemingly bubbling out of everywhere at varying temperatures- some hand-hot! The guide told us that local families would safely spend the day there, going between hot springs (which cooked their lunch) and cold streams. The lingering smell of hydrogen sulphide was reminiscent of Rotorua.
We drove back via the south coast to São Miguel. The only area we would have liked to have visited was the extreme east, but accept that time did not allow for such a diversion. We arrived back at the hotel after 7 hours, presumably the lack of lunch warranted an earlier than anticipated return.
The guide's English was truly excellent, his knowledge comprehensive, as was the tour, and the front seat of the 4x4 very comfortable!
We learned so much; history of the island, inter alia which were the rough and good areas, what enterprises had succeeded and failed, what plants were invasive, what flora was useful and what formed the historic and current economic background of the island. Highly recommended.
Compared to other tours this one was very competitively priced at £257.16 for 2pax with ample space for my folding chair.
