Convenience with Audio Guide & easy!! - This is an experience not to miss!! We have had a tour guide in the past. This time we opted for the audio guide which was just as good. We moved at our own pace which was definitely faster than groups. We enjoyed it more & wasn’t as exhausting as this could be. I definitely recommend the audio tour!!

A slightly-needed queue ticket and voice tour - The service desk of the event provider is on the floor of the train station, the staff of the desk is kind, and the explanation of the process is also careful. The process of borrowing or returning the voice navigation tool is both convenient and smooth. The shortcoming is that there is a "Chinese" language option on the platform for speech navigation, which is also an important reason why I chose this provider. But the scene was only known, because the navigation system is still under reconstruction, so there is no "Chinese" voice navigation player. In addition, in the provider's service counter, is the Archaeological Park ticket exchange volume. We still have to hold the exchange volume and go to the more distant archaeological park main gate to queue for exchange tickets.

Must be patient - To have tickets with a guide was very long, waiting on a balcony for 15 minutes and then waiting in the street for the distribution of the earphones for 20 minutes???? Could have distributed them while waiting on the balcony?? Not well organized

Self tour - We had umbrellas and had to handle the phones work not straps or handles. I was worried the whole time the kids would drop the phone. They should really do Bluetooth headsets and straps on the phone to keep both your hands free. My gps was working but kids weren’t the maps. Handed to me were in Italian not English.

Over complicated and a lot of queuing - The Viator voucher has to be exchanged near the rail station for what turned out to be not a ticket but another voucher. We then had to queue a long time at a gate some way away for an actual ticket. There was no ‘skip the line’ queue. So overall not a good way to get tickets. The audioguide was on a phone which meant it had to be held to the ear unless you had your own headphones, but the GPS/map on the phone was useful. The site was superb. But I would not book this way again.

Not really skip the line! - While the park was amazing, this is not skip the line. You get a voucher at train station and still have to wait in same line as people buying tickets to get an “actual” ticket for entry. Lost over an hour of time just dealing with where to wait in line. Several others experienced the same frustration.

A bit of a hassle — consider other options - A bit of a hassle — consider other options This was my second visit to Pompeii. The first time, I bought tickets at the counter the same day with no issue. This time, anticipating large crowds during high season and the Jubilee, I opted for advance booking through a third-party provider—but it ended up being more trouble than it was worth. You’re required to first stop at the tour office to pick up a voucher and audio guide, then walk downhill to a separate entrance to exchange your voucher for actual tickets. It’s inconvenient and time-consuming, especially in the heat, and you still end up waiting in line. The one upside: the audio guide provided was easy to use and actually nicer than the official ones offered onsite. Still, I’d recommend either booking a guided tour or taking your chances with same-day tickets at the main entrance.

While our visit in... - While our visit in Pompeii was great, the ticketing experience leading up to getting into the archeological park was terrible. We paid for a “skip-the-line” ticket and instead were given a voucher by the tour operator (even though the Viator voucher said that we’d be given a ticket by the tour operator), which resulted in us having to then wait in line for over 30 minutes to get our ticket to enter the park. This severely impacted our time in the park since we had only a finite amount of time to get back to our prepaid transportation.
