Vesuvius National Park - Transfer to Mt. Vesuvius.
Get on the top of the volcano to see the crater that still smokes slightly. Besides that, you will have a stunning panorama of the Bay of Naples, Capri, Ischia, the edge of the Sorrento coast and more. The last 500m is a very steep uphill walk, and closed-in shoes are essential.
At the end of the visit, back to the main entrance of Pompeii Ruins, called Porta Marina Superiore.

Pompeii and Mount Vesuvius are the central figures of the 79 AD eruption. Discover more about this fascinating event with an exceptional full-day experience. Join a small group tour of Pompeii, guided by an Archaeologist who will highlight the site’s most significant features, such as the Forum – the city’s main square – along with key houses and buildings. In the afternoon, meet the hiking guide and depart in our minibus, accommodating up to 14 people, heading towards Mount Vesuvius. Upon arrival at the Vesuvius entrance, embark on a 30-minute steep walk to reach the crater’s summit. Hike the volcano to its peak, gaze into the still quiescent crater, and marvel at the stunning landscape and the breathtaking view of the Bay of Naples. After the excursion, you will be transported back to Pompeii, where the tour concludes.
- Children under 6 y.o. are not allowed
- Wear comfortable shoes, sunglasses and sunscreen in the summer
- If the Vesuvius is not accessible due to force majeur, the tour will include the visit of Herculaneum instead of Vesuvius
- Please be aware that from the entrance of Vesuvius first 30 minutes is a step walking to reach the crater
- Not recommended for travelers with mobility/walking issue or impairments

Tour of Vesivius and Pompeii - Well worth it. Takes most of the day. Started with a shortish uphill hike after a 30 minute drive from Pompeii up Vesuvius Our Guide Mario gave us a thorough description of the area, including distant and recent history. We met an scientist at the top who told us about how the volcano erupted as well as other volcanic activity. After driving back, Yvonne gave us a great tour of the Pompeii ruins, complete with detailed history. After the two hour tour, you have the option to continue to explore Pompeii.

Great guide in ruins. 2... - Great guide in ruins. 2 hrs is not enough but the guide was passionate and informative about his job
The volcano has unbelievable sites and is a great walk up every step improving the view
Guide was exceptional on this part of the tour as well.

Good full day event, suitable a full day trip event out of Naples - The tour is structured in 2 parts - 2 hour tour of Pompeii followed by 3 hour tour/hike up Vesuvius.
Having an archaeologist guide us through the Pompeii ruins was a great experience, seeing things from an archaelogist perspective.
Mario our guide up Vesuvius was great, his sense of humor and knowledge of the area and more generally places of interest in Italy were very well appreciated by the group.
One thing though that should have been communicated upfront at booking is that this is a full day experience, as the description seems to suggest it’s a half day event.

What an amazing day - What a day, it was long but well worth it
If you go to Pompeii you must have a guide
We had Antonella who was amazing
She is also an archaeologist so she shared so much information
I would recommend Pompeii and this tour
Me and my wife loved it
We also climbed MT Vesuvius and our guide was Mario
The hike up and down was great and Mario shared so much information
We even got to see steam from areas of the mountains
Nice work and we loved it

Really good package. We... - Really good package. We climbed Vesuvius in the morning and completed the tour in the afternoon. Both sessions were very informative and led well by the guides who were extremely helpful and knowledgeable.

A long day but well worth the exertion - We had an archeologist for the tour of Pompeii who was excellent. The tour company utilized ear phones which were comfortable for adult ears but not great for a small 13 year old. While it was very warm the guide was very well spoken, had a ton of interesting information and made the site come alive.
That was followed by the trip in the Mercedes bus up Mt Vesuvius. A different tour guide, Mario, took us on the tour. The bus was comfortable and well driven on difficult roads. The bus parked about a 23 min walk from the crater. The air was cool and refreshing but the walk was steep and on a gravel like surface. Mario took a number of breaks along the way to get us all up to the top. We were glad to have brought a liter of water with us. At the top another guide spoke to us about the volcano and then Mario continued the tour around the crater. You can only walk half of the crater but it was more than enough to see into the volcano, and see the steam rising! The views over the land below were amazing and worth the walk to get up there. I would recommend wearing good shoes for it.

We did Pompeii ruins and... - We did Pompeii ruins and then did the hike around 145-2:00pm. Expect a long day. Hike was amazing, we had a great guide. Mario was very knowledgeable on mount versuvius. We met archeologist who explained to us about the eruption. Hike is about 3 hours, wear comfortable shoes or hiking shoes. One of the greatest experience for my husband and I!
