The hike to Vesuvius was... - The hike to Vesuvius was great, the weather can change every few minutes so better to have a rain jacket/poncho than not! Antonella was so friendly and had great energy!

Amazing - Carmella and Guiseppe were both amazing. Carmella was very kind, knowledgeable and patient with us as we had young children. Guiseppe was an expert driver in Naples traffic and the winding roads leading up to Pompeii. Highly recommend this tour

Worth it! - Top organized, friendly and considerate. Thanks Giovanni, Remigio (such a good driver, which is also necessary here) and Hanna!

Definitely Recommend a Small Group - Finding our guide at the Port was a little confusing, but Alessandra rang and explained exactly where she was, and her yellow jacket helped to find her easily. We decided on the small group trip, and there was only 13 of us which was perfect.
Patrizia was our guide in Pompeii and she was great. She took us the opposite way to most tourists, to keep away from the crowds as much as possible. Being in such a small group meant we could always see exactly what she was telling us, and the timing between locations was just right - we saw lots without feeling rushed. (Pompeii is much bigger than I realised, so don't expect to cover the whole Site). Patrizia was very knowledgeable, and pointed out things like cart tracks in the roads which tips probably miss without a guide.
For lunch we went to a restaurant by Vesuivus with pretty views, and enjoyed a lovely 3 course meal - much better than I expected.
Vesuvius itself was a pretty steep walk, but well worth it for the views from the top (I think in summer it world be very hard going!). We had about 2 hours in total - just the right amount of time to walk up, look around at the top, and buy some souvenirs from the stalls.

Expertly led and organized - We often self-guide experiences when we travel, but I knew that this trip would be better if I sit back and let local experts show us around. If anything, this tour actually exceeded my expectations! Maria (our lead for the day) was so well-organized and professional. The driver, Giuseppe, was so pleasant and always in the right place at the right time. Our site guides were both so warm, personable, knowledgeable and patient. Roberta really took time and care to optimize our group experience at Pompeii, while Ciro came prepared in every way on Mount Vesuvius - not only did he bring graphics and draw on the ground to help us really understand the science of volcanoes, he even lent a chilly guest his own hat! What a special and memorable day - I'd recommend to anyone who wants to make the most of these sites of interest in a fun and relaxing way.

Lovely holiday exploring Pompeii and Mt. Vesuvius - What a lovely experience! Giusi DP was an amazing tour host. She communicated effectively via WhatsApp to make sure I knew where to meet her and at what time. Once picked up, she gave wonderful information about the days activities, what to expect and information about the local history, plus fabulous foodie talks about the cheese, pizzas and wines of the region. She was wonderful at arranging everything, meeting us at locations and keeping us together (because there are a LOT of people around these two popular locations and she did wonderful keeping track of us all in our group).
Our lunch at the Vesuvius vineyard was very tasty. Lovely small tour of the vineyard and their practices. The wine pairing was a delight and paired perfectly with the three course meal for lunch.
I would recommend this trip for anyone trying to squeeze in these sights. Yes, you could do more time at Pompeii because it's HUGE but honestly being there right at opening and walking around for 2 hours was good enough with the guide. By the time we left it was starting to get really hot and over crowded. I loved that we started here first thing in the morning because the lines to enter Pompeii were incredibly long when we left and I'm so grateful we didn't have to wait or deal with those crowds. It was nice to explore at opening with way less people.
The 2 hours we were given at Mt. Vesuvius was perfect. I'm a slow hiker and it was enough time to get to the very top, take some pictures, rest a few minutes to enjoy the sights (there are a couple of spots to get drinks/wine/water if needed), and hike back down.
Victorio was an AMAZING driver, especially around the steep small roads up to Mr. Vesuvius! I was scared many times but he did an absolutely wonderful job at keeping us safe and also doing his best to avoid certain pot holes so it wouldn't disturb our comfort.
The transportation to and from was ideal. There's no way I would have the courage to drive to these sights to deal with parking. Or the roads!! Victorio made it easy to pick us up at each location and dropped us off efficiently.
Thank you Giusi and Victorio for making this such a special trip!!!

Recommended experience - It was a very positive experience. The Antonella guide was very nice and attentive to the needs of the participants, the visit to Pompeii exceeded our expectations thanks to Luisa's explanations, very prepared and passionate in telling the story and making us appreciate it. The visit to the crater of Vesuvius equally beautiful. Lunch break, much appreciated.

Beautiful but there were issues - The hike to the top is steep.
We hike and backpack in the mountains and this was a hike to the top.
Also they DID NOT tell us to use the restroom before starting the hike. There is no bathrooms at the top. People were having to go off trail to go to the bathroom.
Last the van taking us back to the hotel dropped off everyone but us. We were the last hotel. But they stopped and waited for over a half hour just to give a friend a ride.
We had to sit there and wait for their friend

Not a good day with World Tours - I am a frequent Viator user and unfortunately this was one of the worst experiences I’ve had with a tour that they provided. It was through the company World Tours. We booked a full day tour from Naples going to Pompeii, winery and lunch and Mt Vesuvius.
Pick up was fine, they met our group of 10 at the Port and took us to Pompeii, after that it all went downhill.
Issues included:
Poor communication: we arrived at Pompeii and stood inline for 45 mins waiting - the tour guide didn’t communicate that there was a “computer glitch” so after 20 mins I finally asked what ws going on. Out tour guide never let us know what ws going on. Strange other groups went through without a problem, we waited another 25 mins and finally got to go in. One of the main reasons we use tours is to skip the line! So much for that!
Poor tour guide attitude and language barrier- tour guide Lello was extremely difficult to understand in English and got really upset when we asked questions. He skipped a lot of areas in Pompeii and we often stopped to listen to other tour guides to gain understanding on what we were looking at.
Poor sense of direction: our van bus driver drove in circles (for an additional 20 mins)while looking for the winery we were supposed to be going to- he said he forgot where it was!? As a driver shouldn’t you know where it is you’re driving to? Winery food and wine was good once we got there but there was no tour of the facilities or info about the winery itself.
More poor communication and directional issues:
Headed up to Vesuvius for a hike but driver and tour leader dropped us at a old trail head that wasn’t in use, said just follow the trail and pretty much left. Well… come to find out it wasn’t the correct trail head and added an extra mile plus of really bad terrain, so half of the group did it and the other half opted out. If we were dropped off at the correct spot we could have easily done the hike- funny it’s where all the other buses and vans were parked. I mentioned to our driver, after the fact, that we he had dropped us at the wrong trail head and he just laughed at me.
So overall I would say poor communication, poor understanding of where (exactly) we were going and poor attitude resulted in a total let down from World Tours. I would never book with this company ( through Viator) again.
