- Polonnaruwa - The Shiva Devale No.II is known as the oldest building in the ancient city of Polonnaruwa, dating back to the South Indian Chola dynasty period when Indian invaders constructed the city. Most buildings in the Ancient City of Polonnaruwa were made entirely of stone, which is why many structures remain in a condition similar to when they were built centuries ago. The statue of Lord Shiva’s mount, Nandi the bull, is a highlight.

The original lime plaster remains perfectly white even after almost 700 years. It is known as the best-preserved unrestored dagaba in Polonnaruwa. Originally named ‘Rupavathi Stupa,’ it is part of the Ãlahana Privena and stands 80 feet tall today.
- Pabalu Vehera - Pabalu Vehera is considered the third-largest dagaba in the ancient city of Polonnaruwa. The origin of this uniquely shaped stupa remains unknown. It was constructed by a consort of the great King Parakramabahu (1153-1186 AD).
- Lankathilaka Viharaya - Lankatilaka Vihara is one of the most incredible structures in the ancient kingdom of Polonnaruwa. Built by the great King Parakramabahu, it features two great walls forming a narrow aisle leading to a striking, headless Buddha statue that still stands. The statue is over 14 meters tall.
- Gal Vihara - Known as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Gal Vihara is a perfect example of a Lord Buddha statue carved from solid stone. It was constructed during the reign of the great King Parakramabahu (1153-1186 A.C). The recumbent Buddha sculpture, representing Buddha entering Nirvana, is 14 meters long. The Gal Vihara was created by expert stone sculptors from Sri Lanka.
