Plovdiv is said to be the oldest continuously inhabited city in Europe. The city has cultural and economic significance both in the past and in the present due to its strategic location. Pieces of evidence of its millennial history can be found all over the place
- from the Roman Theatre to the Ottoman mosques. This is the reason why Plovdiv is one of the most charming sights in Bulgaria- wherever you look you will find history, a legend from a different period, traces of glorious past and at the same time, it’s a pleasure to see how vivid is it still and how it continues to develop and writes its new history. There we will visit the highlights
- the Roman Theatre, the Roman Stadium, and have a walk in the Old Town with typical for the Revival Period house museums and narrow cobblestone streets. Afterward, we will have lunch.
- Assenova krepost (Asen’s Fortress) - When we are done with our traditional Bulgarian lunch, we will head towards the final destination of the tour
- Asenova Fortress (approx. 25 min drive from Plovdiv). Asen’s Fortress is situated on the top of a cliff in Rodopi Mountain, at approx. 20 km distance from Plovdiv. It is a Medieval fortress with a rich history and breathtaking view.
- Bachkovo Monastery - After feasting our eyes on the beauties of nature, we will drive to the Bachkovo monastery. This is the second biggest monastery in Bulgaria and one of the oldest. It was established in the late XI century by a man for Georgia. The monastery later became part of the Bulgarian church. It suffered a lot from the turbulence of the time and keeps a lot of history and drama.

A completely professional tour company and guide that went above and beyond to ensure happy customers - I had an absolutely excellent experience with this tour company. They were so professional and accommodating and went beyond anything I would normally expect to make sure I was a satisfied customer who had a good experience. Daniel was an amazing tour guide. He was knowledgable, informative, and a great conversationalist. He also struck a really good balance between keeping you occupied and giving you free time to look around. The tour itineraries are excellent and varied, and the small group ensures a very personal level of care.

Just do it…. - Great excursion if you short and time and want to see some great attractions.
Our Tour Guide was amazing, knowledgeable, friendly and even dropped us off at a different location at the end for a reservation he had made plans for. Highly recommended

Excellent combination tour - Turned out to be like a private tour as we were the only ones on the tour. It was a very nice tour. Might have been good to have a little more time in Plovdiv. Fort had some majestic views. The monastery was a sight to behold (this is before visiting Rila). The combination of the city, fort and monastery made this tour worthwhile.

What an incredible... - What an incredible experience! Our tour guide, Krasi truly made the day exceptional. His friendliness and deep knowledge brought the architectural splendor and vibrant cultural history of Bulgaria to life. Though it’s a long day, Krasi’s engaging storytelling made every moment enjoyable. Absolutely worth it!

Well beyond expectations - This is one of the best day tours we have ever done. Excellent value for money. Daniel is an outstanding guide. Picked us up at our AirBnb address no problem. Ride was comfortable. Daniel was extremely knowledgeable on the history of Sofia which is no tall order as the history is complicated and highly nuanced. We visited plenty of historical ruins and places of worship - with plenty of time for a relaxing lunch and walk through the main shopping and restaurant mall. If we could give more than 5 stars we would! Highly recommend this trip!! You won’t be disappointed!!

Fantastic guide & tour - The guide was fantastic, so knowledgeable about all the sights. Our tour had 4 plus the guide, so a great group size. We went to the fortress first, then the monastery so it would be quieter. That also gave us the maximum amount of free time in Plovdiv. The monastery is the 2nd largest and is very beautiful. The fortress has amazing views. Plovdiv was great and the guide covered all the key areas before we spent some free time. A great day trip to explore these sights
