Fabulous trip, totally recommend. - Awesome experience. Our guide was excellent. Everything is included (admissions to Coba and Rio Secreto, plus water shoes/wetsuit/headlamp and locker at Rio Secreto, transfers by bus). We stopped by Rio Secreto briefly first to do registration, then went to Coba, then lunch, then back to Rio Secreto to actually go in the cenote.
Coba has amazing ruins and the added plus is there's lots of trees so everything is shaded (very nice on a hot day). Riding bikes around the archeological site was fun and the history was cool to learn about.
Rio Secreto's underground river was unbelievable. It was like a mystical experience. I did a different cenote in the area during my last trip to Yucatan but this one was bigger, longer, and had more amazing formations.

Amazing All Day Tour Including a Visit to the Ancient Archeological Site of Coba - Combining an exploration of Rio Secreto with a visit to the Mayan archeological site of Coba made for a wonderful day. Entering the dark caves and wading or occasionally floating through the underground river in a wetsuit wearing a helmet with lamp was quite a fun adventure. Throughout is beautiful stalactites and stalagmites. Absolutely stunning. It was a truly unique and memorable experience. We then made the 80-minute drive to see the ancient Mayan ruins of Coba. While not as famous as Chichén Itza, it was still a remarkable sight. A number of ancient structures including temples and pyramids are spread throughout the jungle including the Nohoch Mul Pyramid known as Ixmoja which is one of the tallest pyramids on the Yucatán peninsula standing at 138 feet. After a guided tour of the area nearest the entrance, a rental bike is provided so that you can see these other ancient structures. The entire tour from start to finish is well organized. I was picked up at the time expected at my resort in Playacar and the bus then made several other stops picking up other guests and we eventually headed to the Rio Secreto. After watching an instruction video, we were organized into our specific groups depending on what tour you had booked and were then fitted with all the necessary equipment including a wetsuit, life jacket, water shoes and a helmet with lamp. Changing rooms and lockers are provided. My only dislike was that we were not allowed to bring any phones or cameras into the underground caves and had to purchase the overpriced photo package if you wanted any photos from inside. It would be nice if they offered an inexpensive single photo from the tour, but the photo packages started at $40-50+ and included 20 or more photos which is completely unnecessary. I didn't see anyone on our tour purchasing at the end of the tour and I think they are missing out on an opportunity. Nevertheless, it was still an amazing experience. We then had a nice buffet lunch featuring local cuisine before making the 80-minute bus ride to Coba as described above. The coach bus was comfortable, and I met some great fellow travelers on the ride. Keep in mind that you may need to make a lot of stops at other resorts at the end of the tour before arriving at your destination. Unfortunately, I was the final stop and after the 90-minute drive back to Playa del Carmen, we spent an additional hour driving all around the town before arriving at my resort. Not a big deal but plan accordingly. In summary, this was an amazing experience, and I would highly recommend to those who are interested in history and natural beauty and can tear themselves away from the beach or pool for the day.
