Great tour for the half-day experience - We didn't have time for a full day tour so the half-day worked great. We visited Elizabeth's winery and had a blast. We also visited Amarante, a small historical city close to Porto and had some green wine and rustic ham. It was a great tour all around for anyone looking for the half-day experience

Amazing views & wine - but questionable guiding - All in all a good tour. I've been to the full day Douro Tour (the usual - tastings, boat ride and lunch) and could compare the experience to the shorter version. You get the best of Douro Valley - the views (that's what you want there! You don't see the whole beauty from the boat), the tastings, a snack. Time-wise perfect. We really loved Elizabeth's vineyard - much, MUCH better experience than visiting the large wineries/port makers on the other tours. That alone was one of our highlights in Porto. What I do need to comment on is, however, our guide/driver. Don't get me wrong - he's open-hearted and friendly. But we didn't get any explanations about the area, it's history, traditions etc - just a personal chat about his family, places they lived at, how it's his side job and so on. Most of the time (Elizabeth's vineyard being an exception) there was no context to what's happening. When we came to Amarante we were left with no instructions on what's nice to see or how much time we have. At some point our guide just disappeared, leaving the group wondering why, where and for how long. Real shame since the area has so much amazing history - even the tiny Amarante is so full of legends, traditions and fun little facts. Again - open and friendly guy, but no information or context whatsoever. Would've been fine for half (or perhaps two-thirds) of the price, but you pay the same or even more than for a full-day tour. Hopefully we were just unlucky. Otherwise value for money is very questionable.
