During this excursion, our station guide who is fluent in English will meet you at 09am for a trip to Pindaya, a peaceful small town known mainly for its Pindaya Caves - limestone caves housing thousands of Buddha statues that have been placed there for worship over many years. The town is also popular for its scenic location by the lake and the local production of traditional Shan paper umbrellas. Nestled in the hills, the caves, some of which are used as meditation spaces, hold around 6000 Buddhas of varying sizes, carved from white marble, bronze, or plaster, and adorned with gold leaf. The Shwe U Min Pagoda, standing tall at 15 meters, is located at the entrance of these caves. During our journey, we will be driving through villages inhabited by hill tribes. We will be visiting the Pindaya caves, a village where Traditional Shan paper is made, as well as Pottery and Umbrella-making villages. A meal will be enjoyed at a local eatery. We will then continue to Nyaung Shwe to visit its attractions. We will return to the hotel in the evening.
