what became known as the killing fields, where they executed around 20.000 victim. Over three years they massacred and
buried 2.5 million people. After remembering the dead, return to Phnom Penh to visit Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum (S21). Meaning hill of the poisonous trees, Pol Pot turned a once popular
high school into a high security prison. 20,000 people were imprisoned
there, many of whom were tortured for information. Today it serves as a
museum and a reminder of darker days.

A tour you cannot miss if you’re visiting Phnom Penh! - My husband and I would strongly recommend this tour! With hotel pick up and drop off, it made the afternoon go by smoothly and allowed us to focus on what was important - paying respect to the lives lost and honouring their memory. Although it was difficult to bear witness to, it is such an important part of Cambodia’s history. We were very grateful for our tour guide Visal as he was very knowledgeable and taught us so much about Pol Pot’s cruel regime 🙏
This is a tour you cannot miss if you’re visiting Phnom Penh!

Your guide and driver were awesome - Our guide and driver were very friendly and he was full of information.
A heavy tour, very sad. But important to know the history.

A very moving experience - This was an excellent and informative tour about a dark part of Cambodia’s past. Visal is an excellent guide who is knowledgeable and passionate about his country’s history. We learned a lot and were glad we booked this tour which was very well organised and professionally run.

Recommend this tour - Great educating tour with a very good guide, Baboon. Cambodia has such a rich history but also with some gruesome history. I really recommend you go on this tour when in Phnom Penh

Sad but historical event - This was a very sad, yet historical account of what occurred in the not too distant past. Our guide, Sum CHEATH, was very friendly, knowledgeable and shared his family's personal experience with the Khmer Rouge. He also allowed ample time for us to explore on our own. I highly recommend this tour!
However, you could go on your own (via Tuk tuk, taxi, or Grab) and rent the audio tour (Entry $3 USD, Entry with audio tour $6 USD for The Killing Fields; Entry for S-21 was $5 USD, I believe. I'm not sure about the audio tour but likely not more than a few dollars). However, there was great convenience and peace of mind getting picked up at our hotel and not having to arrange anything!
A note for Viator: This was my second time with this experience (the first was November 2024 with a private tour company). I recommend going to S-21 first, then The Killing Fields. It seems to flow a bit more logically.

This was a very... - This was a very emotionally heavy experience but glad to have Baboon guide the group through the history and impact from the Khmer Rouge time in Cambodia

A must to visit - Very moving tour. The tour guide was really passionate and shared lots of his local knowledge. Well organised and sufficient time allowed throughout the trip to see everything.
