Phnom Chhngok Cave Temple - These limestone caves near Kampot feature fascinating rock formations and Buddhist shrines. Visitors should bring a flashlight and wear suitable trekking shoes when exploring these caves.
The first caves encountered in this area are the Phnom Chhnork caves, which contain pre-Angkorian ruins within the limestone. Among the stalagmites and stalactites, visitors will find various brick structures from the 5th century AD. There are also 4th-century structures that provide evidence of the Funan state. Inside the cave, limestone formations resemble elephants. The entrance to the second cave is about 300 meters from the first, requiring a climb over rock piles and through narrow openings.
