Sailing into Serenity: A Private St Maarten Adventure
When the opportunity to explore St Maarten on a private catamaran presented itself, I couldn’t resist. The promise of a day filled with snorkeling, paddleboarding, and island stories was too enticing to pass up.
Setting Sail on the “Don’t Worry”
The Caribbean sun was just beginning to cast its golden glow over the horizon as I stepped aboard the “Don’t Worry,” a luxurious Leopard 45 ft sail catamaran. The name itself was a promise of the carefree adventure that awaited. As someone who has spent countless hours riding the waves, the allure of a private cruise around St Maarten was irresistible. The crew welcomed us with warm smiles and a refreshing drink, setting the tone for a day of relaxation and exploration.
Our first stop was Little Bay, a snorkeler’s paradise that I had heard so much about. The water was a mesmerizing shade of turquoise, and as I slipped beneath the surface, I was greeted by a vibrant underwater world. The sunken submarine and helicopter were fascinating relics, adding an element of mystery to the colorful marine life that danced around them. Exploring Baie Longue
After our underwater adventure, we set sail for Baie Longue, one of the most beautiful beaches on Saint Martin. The long stretch of white sand and crystal-clear waters was a sight to behold. As we anchored, the crew shared stories and fun facts about the island, their passion for the sea evident in every word.
I took the opportunity to try out the paddleboard, gliding effortlessly over the gentle waves. The tranquility of the beach, with its steep orange-like cliffs and the luxurious Belmond resort in the background, was the perfect backdrop for a moment of reflection. It’s these quiet moments that I cherish the most, where the beauty of island life truly comes alive.
A Day to Remember
As the day drew to a close, we lounged on the floating mat, or as the crew liked to call it, the floating bar. With a drink in hand and the sun setting in the distance, it was the perfect end to an unforgettable day. The crew’s attentiveness and the boat’s comfort made the experience all the more enjoyable.
