• Topoxte Archaeological Site - is a pre-Columbian Mayan archaeological site located in El Petén, in northern Guatemala. The site has a long history of occupation dating back to the Middle Preclassic period.1 It was the political capital of the Ko’woj Maya, and one of the largest (by size) Postclassic Maya cities in the region. Topoxté is located on an island, in the Yaxhá Lagoon, very close to the important archaeological site of Yaxhá

Embark on a journey to Topoxte and Yaxha with your Tikal Expedition guide, who will collect you from your hotel in Flores, Tikal or El Remate. We will then travel in our transport to Yaxha, from where we board a boat to kickstart our tour of the fascinating archaeological sites of Topoxte. After returning to Yaxha for lunch, we resume our jaunt with newfound enthusiasm to the captivating Yaxha sites. At 05:00 pm, we ascend Temple 216 to behold the sunset over this incredible Mayan city.
