A Culinary Prelude to Easter
As the sun rises over the rolling hills of Umbria, the city of Perugia awakens to the gentle patter of rain on cobblestones. The air is crisp, carrying the scent of fresh earth and blooming flowers, a prelude to the Easter celebrations that will soon envelop the city. On March 29th, the weather may be a mix of rain and partial cloudiness, but this only adds to the charm of exploring Perugia’s vibrant markets and cozy kitchens.
Begin your day with a Market Tour and Dining Experience that promises to immerse you in the heart of Italian culinary tradition. As you wander through the bustling market, the vibrant colors of seasonal fruits and vegetables are a feast for the eyes. The experience culminates in a 3-course meal at a local Cesarina’s home, where the warmth of Italian hospitality is as comforting as the homemade pasta and tiramisu you’ll savor. The rain outside only enhances the coziness of this intimate gathering, where stories and laughter are shared over glasses of local wine.
“Great time! - What a wonderful experience! Laura and her family were so kind, generous, and accommodating. We first started our trip by meeting Laura at the market. We went through the market and visited with local vendors and also had time to spare to get a few items for ourselves. We then made our way to her personal home on the bluff of the mountain that overlooked all of Perugia. We then engaged in making homemade pasta and filling raviolis with Laura and her family. The day started with Aperol style spritzs made by for her daughter and served with fresh orange. We started to make the pasta while Laura’s husband made a fresh tomato sauce for our pasta. We made the pasta and the raviolis, then made tiramisu. Laura was very explanatory in all the steps and ingredients to execute these amazing recipes. I am a chef by trade, and I was impressed by knowledge and ability to mentor and teach us traditional ingredients and recipes. I highly recommend Laura and this tour.” - Reviewed on 2024-04-07
