Waqrapukara remains an enigmatic site built in seclusion far away from most other sites in Cusco. This place was considered more sacred than Machu Picchu. The clue is a vaulted niche three jambs that faces the sun rise, you’ll see it when you arrive there. It’s design and difficulty to reach suggests it was meant to be a secret. Not much is known about its purpose. The surrounding valley is breathtaking and you’ll get to see a side of Cusco not many others see.
Waqrapukara is considered off the beaten path. We also have 2 day hike which involves exploring tombs on the mountain ridge. Inside the tombs are the untouched remains of the Qanchi who were around during the Inca.
