• Penang Hills - Penang Hill is the oldest British hill station in Southeast Asia, dating back to the late 1700s. Take a ride on the steep funicular railway up Penang Hill. Enjoy sweeping views across the island and explore the historic British hill station from the 18th century.
• Kek Lok Si Temple - Perched on hillside terraces overlooking Air Itam, Malaysia’s largest Buddhist temple is a visual feast. Constructed between 1890 and 1905, Kek Lok Si is a cornerstone of the Malay-Chinese community, which funded its two-decade-long construction and ongoing additions. Key features include the seven-tier Thousand-Buddha Pagoda and a stunning 36.5-meter-high bronze statue of the Goddess of Mercy.

To reach the temple’s main entrance, you’ll navigate through souvenir stalls on the uphill path and pass a pond filled with turtles. There are many stairs, but the final stretch to the statue of the Goddess of Mercy is covered by a funicular.

• Khoo Kongsi - One of the remaining clan houses in George Town, the Khoo Kongsi clan house resembles a mini clan village. It features tall, thin columns supporting a gently sloping, red-tiled roof adorned with carvings of dragons, phoenixes, mythical animals, and scenes from popular Chinese legends. The grand hall is decorated with intricate carvings and richly ornamented pillars crafted by master craftsmen from China.
• Tropical Spice Garden - The Tropical Spice Garden is a bio-diverse living museum of spices and other tropical plants. The 6-acre landscaped garden is home to more than 500 species of lush and exotic flora from around the world. It is recognized as one of the best flower gardens in Penang for those who appreciate and enjoy learning about Malaysian flora and fauna.
• Entopia - Entopia is a nature learning center that brings together the best of the insect and plant worlds for you to experience harmony in nature. Within Entopia are two new worlds: The Natureland and The Cocoon. The Natureland is a living garden vivarium, a shared ecological space for various animals, including invertebrates and reptiles, living in recreated natural habitats. It is the largest butterfly and dragonfly garden in Malaysia, with more than 15,000 free-flying butterflies at any time. The Cocoon is an indoor discovery center with two floors of learning exhibitions and activities that allow for self-exploration and engagement in fun learning activities. Nature activities are available at scheduled times daily.
• Pinang Peranakan Mansion - The Pinang Peranakan Mansion is a stately home refurbished to reflect the bygone days of the Straits Chinese settlement in Penang. This magnificent townhouse was the former residence and office of Chinese Kapitan Chung Keng Kwee, a 19th-century Hakka tin-miner and secret society leader of Hai San. The mansion is filled with more than 1,000 antiques and collectibles and incorporates various Chinese architectural elements. Built in the 1890s, the townhouse features Chinese carved-wood panels, English floor tiles, and Scottish ironworks.
• Cheong Fatt Tze - The Blue Mansion - Built in the 1880s, this famous indigo-blue Chinese Courtyard House in George Town was the residence of Cheong Fatt Tze, a prominent Chinese figure in the newly established Penang Straits Settlement during the 19th century. The mansion was constructed by master craftsmen from China, who used their skills to create a mansion with 38 rooms, 5 granite-paved courtyards, 7 staircases, and 220 windows. In 2000, the Cheong Fatt Tze mansion received the inaugural UNESCO Asia-Pacific Heritage Conservation Award, selected as the ‘Most Excellent Project’ in the Asia Pacific Rim following its RM7.6 million restoration.
• Street Art in George Town - Discover the colorful street art scattered throughout the multicultural capital of George Town.
• Tropical Fruit Farm - Take a guided tour of the farm lasting about 30 minutes with one of the farm guides. After the tour, the guide will introduce the process of making Virgin Coconut Oil, Enzymes, and natural soap, along with a sample tasting of the farm’s signature fruit enzymes.

You can also sample lemongrass teas and various types of tropical honey. Enjoy a breathtaking view of the hilly terrains of Teluk Bahang while feasting on a wide variety of freshly cut fruits from the fruit buffet. A freshly squeezed fruit juice of your choice, made from the farm’s produce, is also included.

• Chew Jetty - The largest and most intact of the clan jetties, Chew Jetty consists of 75 elevated houses, several Chinese temples, a community hall, and numerous tourist facilities, all connected by elevated wooden walkways. It’s a fun place to wander, admire docked fishing boats, and enjoy the scent of frying fish wafting across the walkways. There are many places to browse for souvenirs and snack on local food.
• Snake Temple - Built in 1850, the Snake Temple is dedicated to Chor Soo Kong, a Buddhist priest and healer. It is one of the few places where you can get up close to venomous snakes and live to tell the tale.
• Reclining Buddha Wat Chaiyamangalaram - Wat Chaiyamangalaram is a Thai temple in George Town, famous for its large gold-plated Reclining Buddha, which at 33 meters is one of the largest in the world. The temple dates back to 1845 and is built on land given to the Thai people by Queen Victoria of Great Britain during their rule of the island.
• Penang Botanical Gardens - 100-year-old trees, forested hills, and the giant water lilies of the Amazon River basin are just some of the natural treasures awaiting visitors at the Penang Botanic Gardens.

Also known as the Waterfall Gardens due to the nearby cascading waterfalls, the Gardens were originally established by the British in 1884 as a research center to study the commercial viability of exotic plants from different parts of the world. Today, the Gardens offer tranquility from the urban rush and an education in botanical conservation.

There are many walking tracks to choose from, leading to plants like the Pinang Palm (Areca catechu, from which the island of Penang got its name) and wildlife such as long-tailed Macaques, Dusky Leaf Monkeys, Black Giant Squirrels, and a myriad of insects and butterflies. If you’re planning a picnic, be aware that the monkeys are not shy about wanting a share of your food, so you may need to refuel later.
