The journey kicks off with an early morning departure from Cusco, climbing the majestic Andes via winding roads, passing through charming villages and rural scenery until reaching Ajanaco, the entrance to the Amazon rainforest, situated at 3,500 meters above sea level.

From here, the descent into the Cloud Forest begins, a vibrant and lush ecosystem teeming with life, including orchids, heliconias, and tree ferns. During the tour, travelers can spot iconic species such as the rock rooster, the colorful umbrella bird, the exotic masked trogon, and the majestic quetzal, along with some mammals like monkeys.

In the afternoon, arrival at Bambu Lodge marks the end of the day’s journey, where guests will settle in and spend their first night in the jungle.

Pillcopata - After a delightful breakfast, the bus journey continues to Atalaya. Along the route, strategic stops are made for observation walks to spot hummingbirds and some mammals.

Upon reaching Atalaya, a boat tour of approximately 45 minutes along the river commences, offering views of diverse wildlife. The journey concludes at the Golden Noose Hostel, where guests will spend the night.

After lunch, the afternoon includes a visit to Machuwasi Cocha, featuring a ride on a traditional local catamaran. This excursion provides the chance to observe a wide variety of wildlife, including birds like the Shansho or Hoatzin, as well as monkeys, reptiles, dwarf alligators, insects, and hopefully capybaras.

At night, a night walk offers a unique opportunity to observe insects, spiders, snakes, and other fascinating nocturnal jungle creatures.
