DAY 01: CUSCO - CLOUD FOREST - PAUCARTAMBO – PILCOPATA LODGE

Chullpas de Ninamarca - Guests are picked up from their hotel early in the morning between 5:30 a.m. and 6:00 a.m. in a comfortable, private bus. The journey includes a visit to the funerary towers or Chullpas de Ninamarca, located at 3750 meters above sea level, and a brief stop in Paucartambo, a town known for its folklore and colonial bridge.

Paucartambo - • The tour ascends to the Paucartambo area, specifically the Acjanaco sector at 4000 meters above sea level, marking the entrance to the Manu National Park.
• The descent through the enchanting cloud forest follows, home to a diverse range of flora and fauna, including stunning orchids, heliconias, and ancient ferns. A walk is taken to observe the Cock of the Rocks (Rupícola Peruviana) during its mating ritual. There are also opportunities to see Trogons (Trogon sp.), Quetzals (Pharomachrus sp.), and possibly the Spectacled Bear (Tremantus Ornatos) if fortunate.

Pillcopata - • In the afternoon, the group arrives at Pilcopata, situated 550 meters above sea level, where they will stay overnight in a typical lodge with private bathrooms and showers, located outside the town.

DAY 02: PILCOPATA LODGE- ATALAYA – MACHUWASI LAKE– PAITITI LODGE

Atalaya - • Following a delightful breakfast, the journey continues by bus to Atalaya, a 45-minute drive to an elevation of 490 meters above sea level, where a 30-minute boat ride leads to the Paititi lodge. Guests will spend the night in a typical lodge with private bathrooms and showers.
• Along the way, various animals can be observed.
• After a delicious lunch, the afternoon includes a visit to Cocha Machuwasi, where a local catamaran ride offers views of diverse birds like the Shansho (Ophisthocomus hoazín), monkeys, reptiles, dwarf alligators, insects, and possibly some capybaras (Hydrochaerus).
• An optional night trekking program is available. Overnight stay in a hostel with private bathrooms and showers.

DAY 03: PARROTS CLAY LICK – LAKE MARAVILLA

Atalaya - • Early in the morning, a boat trip takes guests to the clay lick of green parrots (a clay wall rich in minerals) where 3 to 4 species of parrots can be seen. The return boat trip includes a forest walk leading to the private lagoon or Cocha Maravilla, where a variety of birds, monkeys, small reptiles, dwarf alligators, and insects can be observed from a platform.
• In the afternoon, guests return to the hostel for lunch.
• Night walks are available. Overnight stay in a hostel with private bathrooms and showers.

DAY 04: PAITITI LODGE - ATALAYA - CUSCO.

Atalaya - • After a delicious breakfast, the return journey by boat from the Paititi lodge to Atalaya takes place, where a bus awaits to transport guests back to Cusco, once again passing through the captivating cloud forest to the Imperial city of Cusco. (Estimated arrival between 6:30 a.m. and 7:00 p.m.)

This exciting 4-day, 3-night adventure tour of the Manu Amazon Cultural Zone starts in Cusco and travels through the cloud forest to reach Manu. The journey continues by boat from Puerto Atalaya to Cocha Machuwasi, where participants can observe shansho, monkeys, and reptiles.

The tour then proceeds to explore vibrant parrot and macaw clay licks, followed by a boat ride to Cocha Maravilla. From a platform, participants will have the opportunity to observe the diverse species that inhabit this remarkable area.
