Amazing tour!! - Lin (tour guide) and Kevin (driver) were amazing! Such a fun tour. My favorite part was the floating market. We got delicious sticky rice and mango, and other street food. We got some delicious snacks from the coconut farm and had a bit of an adrenaline rush from the train market. Overall 10/10 experience would absolutely do it again and recommend to everyone traveling to Bangkok!

Action Packed Morning in Bangkok with Lin and Kevin! - Our first day in Bangkok couldn’t have been better, thanks to our exceptional private guide, Lin, and our wonderful driver, Kevin. From the moment they arrived early for our 6:30 am pick-up, we knew we were in good hands — the early start gave us a valuable head start over the crowds and made the most of the cooler morning weather. Definitely worth waking up early for! We would not have wanted to do this tour any later in the day. Our adventure began with a scenic train ride to the famous Maeklong Railway Market (“Train Market”). Thanks to Lin’s planning, we boarded at the very first station, securing prime seats for the one-hour journey — a real advantage over other tour groups who boarded later. We arrived at the market around 8:30 am, and as the train pulled in, we felt like celebrities, with tourists lining the tracks, phones and cameras raised to capture the train’s dramatic arrival. Lin is not just a guide — she moonlights for you as a photographer and videographer, capturing candid footage of my husband and me during the ride and at the market. She knew exactly where to stand for the best angles - these thoughtful extras truly set her apart. Our next stop was a local coconut farm, where we learnt about Thailand’s unique coconut sugar production — so different from what we had seen in Vietnam’s Mekong Delta. The final highlight was the iconic Damnoen Saduak Floating Market. Instead of the slower gondola-style boats used by many tours, we cruised through the canals in a sleek long-tail boat. We passed colourful stalls brimming with souvenirs and food, and smiling vendors selling directly from their boats — hot food, fresh coconut ice cream, tropical fruits, and more. It was an unforgettable, lively scene. Throughout the day, Lin’s sunny personality, humour, and encyclopedic knowledge of Thailand and its history made every moment engaging. Her practical tips for navigating Bangkok’s public transportation were also much appreciated. What stood out even more was how warmly Lin interacted with everyone — she seemed to know every stallholder we passed, greeting them like family. Her genuine friendliness and connection to the local community made the experience even richer and more personal. Meanwhile, Kevin provided a smooth, safe journey in a spotless, air-conditioned vehicle, ensuring our travel time between stops was comfortable and relaxing. We highly recommend Lin and Kevin to anyone looking for a premium, personal, and truly memorable experience in this amazing city of Bangkok - we were back to Downtown Bangkok by 1pm!

Luxury, Laughter & Lifelong Memories - We chose the luxury option for our tour, and it was absolutely worth it! From start to finish, everything was seamless and comfortable. Jim, was amazing—knowledgeable, friendly, and incredibly accommodating. She even acted as our personal photographer throughout the day, which was such a thoughtful touch and gave us some wonderful memories to look back on. The gentleman who drove us around was fantastic too—professional, courteous, and made the ride smooth and enjoyable. Both Jim and our driver truly made the experience special. We had so much fun and couldn’t have asked for a better team to show us around. Highly recommend!

Overpriced, Overhyped, and Underwhelming – A Tourist Trap Masquerading as Culture - Floating Market or Fleecing Market? A Pricey Tourist Trap in Disguise We were lured by the idea of an “unmissable cultural experience.” What we got was a well-packaged daylight robbery. Let’s start with the ticket options. THB 2,000 gets you a boat ride—just the ride. Add another THB 1,000 and they throw in a temple visit (miles away and absolutely forgettable), a coconut farm (completely underwhelming), and an elephant show (the only silver lining, but still not worth the inflated price). Pay THB 4,000 and you’ll also get entry to a tiger zoo—though honestly, you’d be better off visiting these places separately. They’re nearby and likely cheaper when done à la carte. Oh, and they tried charging us an extra 5% for paying by credit card. We pushed back, and they relented. But really? The boat itself? Loud enough to drown your thoughts—noise-cancelling headphones would’ve been a blessing. The canal water is murky and foul, a definite appetite killer, which is a shame because that’s part of the “floating market charm” they sell you on. Now, about the market: nearly every kiosk sells the same mass-produced souvenirs at triple the price you’d find elsewhere. The boat operators make selective stops, mostly where their “cousins” or “aunties” are selling. Smiles all around, but don’t be fooled—the goal is to lighten your wallet, not share authentic Thai culture. We saw just a handful of actual floating vendors selling fresh produce—the rest? Cheap knockoffs and gimmicky trinkets. We even witnessed utensils being rinsed in the canal, which made us seriously question the hygiene at those picturesque waterside restaurants that so many tourists eagerly lined up for. As for the elephant show—it was heartwarming to see the young elephants perform, but disheartening to think there were no fixed showtimes. How many times a day are they made to perform? That left a sour taste. So, why did we go? Because we, too, read glowing reviews claiming this was a “must-do.” Now, we wish someone had warned us. Our little adventure cost us nearly THB 10,000—and that’s why I’m writing this. Not to rant, but to save you from repeating our mistake. If you’re still curious, here’s my advice: skip the bundled packages. Just do the THB 2,000 boat ride (if you really must) and keep your wallet firmly closed. Smile politely, snap some photos, and leave with your money intact. Would we do it again? Absolutely not. Would we warn others? You’re welcome.
