• Cimetiere Americain de Colleville-sur-Mer - The Normandy American Cemetery and Memorial (French: Cimetière américain de Colleville-sur-Mer) is a World War II cemetery and memorial located in Colleville-sur-Mer, Normandy, France. It honors American soldiers who lost their lives in Europe during World War II. Situated on the site of the former temporary battlefield cemetery of Saint Laurent, it spans 172.5 acres and contains 9,388 gravesites.

A memorial within the cemetery features maps and details of the Normandy landings and subsequent military operations. At the heart of the memorial stands “Spirit of American Youth Rising from the Waves,” a bronze statue. The cemetery also has two flagpoles where visitors can gather at different times to watch the American flags being lowered and folded.

• Omaha Beach - Omaha Beach was one of the five beach landing sectors of the amphibious assault component of Operation Overlord during World War II.

On June 6, 1944, the Allies launched an invasion of German-occupied France with the Normandy landings. “Omaha” refers to an 8-kilometer (5 mi) stretch of the Normandy coast in France, facing the English Channel, from east of Sainte-Honorine-des-Pertes to west of Vierville-sur-Mer on the right bank of the Douve river estuary. The landings here were crucial to connect the British landings to the east at Gold with the American landing to the west at Utah, creating a continuous foothold on the Normandy coast of the Baie de Seine (Bay of the Seine river). The United States Army was tasked with taking Omaha, supported by sea transport and a naval bombardment force primarily provided by the United States Navy and Coast Guard, with assistance from the British, Canadian, and Free French navies.

• Batterie Allemande de Longues-Sure-Mer - The Longues-sur-Mer battery (German: Marineküstenbatterie (MKB) Longues-sur-Mer; also known as Widerstandsnest (Wn) 48) is a World War II German coastal artillery battery located approximately 1 km (0.62 mi) north of the village of Longues-sur-Mer in Normandy, France. Positioned on a 60 m (200 ft) cliff overlooking the Baie de Seine, it was part of Germany’s Atlantic Wall coastal defenses, situated between the Allied landing sectors of Gold Beach and Omaha Beach.

The battery shelled Allied naval forces off both beaches on D-Day (6 June 1944), but was damaged by Allied shore bombardment the same day and subsequently captured on 7 June 1944 by British ground forces, playing no further role in the Normandy campaign.

The battery is the only one in Normandy to retain several of its original guns in place. It was designated as a historical monument in October 2001 and remains well-preserved.

• Pointe du Hoc - La Pointe du Hoc (French pronunciation: [pwɛ̃t dy ɔk]) is a promontory with a 35-meter (110 ft) cliff overlooking the English Channel on the northwestern coast of Normandy in the Calvados department, France.

During World War II, Pointe du Hoc was the site of a series of German bunkers and machine gun posts. Before the Normandy invasion, the German army fortified the area with concrete casemates and gun pits. On D-Day, the United States Army Provisional Ranger Group attacked and captured Pointe du Hoc after scaling the cliffs. United States generals, including Dwight D. Eisenhower, had determined that the location housed artillery that could hinder nearby beach assaults.
