Situated in the picturesque Pedra Branca valley, the distillery is surrounded by preserved Atlantic Forest, ocean views, and waterfalls, and is located along the historic Estrada da Patrulha trail, part of the old Gold Trail route.
The entire production process ā from manual sugarcane planting to bottling ā occurs on-site using traditional copper stills with a separation box for āhead,ā āheart,ā and ātailā cuts, resulting in a pure, refined cachaƧa certified by INMETRO and bearing the Paraty Geographical Indication seal.
Open daily from 9:30 AM to 5:00 PM, the distillery offers guided tours explaining the production process and includes tastings of cachaƧas, liqueurs, molasses, sweets, and local jams.

- The Gold Path - The Caminho do Ouro (Old Gold Trail) in Paraty is a fascinating glimpse into Brazilās colonial past, where history, culture, and nature intersect. Originally used by the indigenous GuaianĆ”s, these stone-paved paths were expanded between the 17th and 19th centuries by enslaved Africans and mule drivers to transport gold, slaves, sugar, and later coffee from Minas Gerais to the Atlantic port for export to Portugal.
Today, approximately 3ā4 km of the restored trail can be explored within the Serra da Bocaina National Park. The walking route takes around 2ā3 hours and is rated easy to moderate: well-preserved antiquated cobblestones, engineered drainage systems, and occasional stone retaining walls hint at the craftsmanship of its builders.
Although open daily, the trail must be crossed with certified local guidesāboth to protect private lands it crosses and to provide rich interpretation of its ecological, engineering, historical, and social dimensions.
- Cachoeira do Toboga - The Cachoeira do TobogĆ£, located about 8 km from downtown Paraty along the ParatyāCunha road, is one of the regionās main natural attractions. Its highlight is a huge smooth rock, shaped by the continuous flow of water, forming a natural slide that glides into a crystal-clear pool ā perfect for those seeking relaxation or a bit of adrenaline.
The trail to the waterfall is easy and short (about 5 minutes from the parking lot near Igreja da Penha). Itās often included in popular jeep tours that combine visits to TobogĆ£, PoƧo do Tarzan, and historic distilleries like Engenho DāOuro.
The site is fun and safe for sliding while seated, but sliding standing up ā the famous ārock surfingā ā is risky and has caused accidents. You can join local youngsters showing off their skills or simply watch and enjoy a refreshing swim in the pool.
Next to the waterfall, thereās a bar-restaurant offering snacks and drinks, plus facilities like restrooms and parking.
- PoƧo do Tarzan - The PoƧo do Tarzan is a natural pool located above the famous Cachoeira do TobogĆ£ in Paraty. It is easily accessible via the ParatyāCunha Road (Km 7.5), near Igreja da Penha. The trail is short and well-marked, ideal for families and adventurers.
The pool is surrounded by rocks and a suspension bridge leading to a rustic restaurant with a privileged view. The water is clear and calm, perfect for a refreshing swim. For the more daring, there is a rock about 10 meters high from which you can jump into the pool. Itās important to check the depth before jumping, as it may vary due to sand at the bottom.
The site is very popular, especially during jeep tours to Paratyās waterfalls. The restaurant offers typical local dishes such as moqueca and shrimp bobó, and sometimes live music.
Whether to relax or seek adrenaline, PoƧo do Tarzan is a must-visit stop in Paraty.
