Additional Information

Experience the real Sao Paulo on a journey through Paraisópolis slum, offering a unique glimpse into the lively spirit of its inhabitants, particularly its remarkable artists.

After being picked up from your location, we’ll head to the favela, home to around 100,000 people. Our first stop is the Community Association’s headquarters, where you’ll learn about its history and primary initiatives. We’ll also visit the radio station and engage in conversations with the locals.

Then, we’re off to the Berbéla mechanical shop to marvel at art crafted from reused metal scraps, brought to life in various forms.

Our next stop is at the home of sculptor Estevão, dubbed the Gaudí of Paraisópolis. Step inside his stone house, adorned with items like cups, plates, and dishes integrated into the house’s structure, offering a whimsical ambiance.

Gain a unique viewpoint as we navigate the intricate system of alleyways and streets, leading to the Palmeirinha soccer field, the community’s first library, and a Ballet Project.

Fantastic stay at Hotel de l'Horloge, Avignon. - This wonderful hotel in the centre of the old city of Avignon is highly recommended. Friendly helpful staff, clean and comfortable room and close to everything you need. Stayed 10 days in a Privilege Room with Terrace - just brilliant to come back to after a day of sightseeing. Lots of room and added bonus of being outside on a rooftop with views of the old city. Great value for money. Well done Hotel de l'Horloge.

A wonderful tour highlighting much to admire - I went with my family, including two children, ages 8 and 10. This may have been the highlight of our trip to Brazil! Marcio was a wonderful guide, and the tour is well designed to highlight the special positive features of the favela. The art was breathtaking.

Favella! Yes!! - My wife and I toured the Paraisópolis favella with Adi and two local residents. Adi and the other guides and tour were fantastic!! We met the mayor of the favella and had our picture taken with him. We toured the streets and learned how the residents are working to improve their lives. We spent time in the favella home of a artist whose home was ornate and grand and amazing. We had lunch in the favella with our guides and it was delicious! I would highly recommend this favella tour to anyone wanting to gain a better understanding of favellas. You will be inspired by their warmth and intimate community.

Favela tour - Thank you Carlos for a wonderful tour. I loved walking through the market, trying street food and getting to know the community. I really appreciated you showing me more of Sao Paolo as well. You were right, the view you insisted I see was spectacular!

Great tour, but wrong title - The tour was very nice and interesting, with Bruno being an absolutely fantastic guide. We give 4 out of 5 stars, because we feel the tour is marketed wrongly. You do go in the favela, but actually that part is very short and you only visit 2 or 3 places. We thought we would walk around more in the streets to try and get some feeling of what “life in the favela” means. That being said, we still had a great time with an interesting tour, much of it thanks to Bruno!
