Ta Prohm is the modern name of a tranquil and mysterious temple located near Siem Reap, Cambodia, approximately 1 kilometer east of Angkor Thom. Built in the late 12th to early 13th century by King Jayavarman VII, the temple was originally named Rajavihara (“Monastery of the King”) and served as a Mahayana Buddhist monastery and university.

Unlike many other temples in the Angkor complex, Ta Prohm has been left largely in the condition it was found, with massive tree roots and vines entwined through its stone walls and towers. This atmospheric setting has made it one of the most popular temples to visit in the Angkor Archaeological Park.

Bayon Temple - Bayon is a richly decorated Khmer Buddhist temple located in the heart of Angkor Thom, Cambodia. Built in the late 12th or early 13th century, it served as the state temple of King Jayavarman VII, one of the most celebrated rulers of the Khmer Empire.

Bayon is best known for its enigmatic stone faces—serene and smiling—carved onto its many towers. It is considered a symbol of Mahayana Buddhism and the divine rule of the king.
