- Casco Viejo - When most people get to Panama City they end up in Casco Viejo (normally a bit jet lagged) and walk around aimlessly thinking that Panama is more expensive than Switzerland. Throughout the tour I will be giving old history, advise on safety in different areas, best food stands, social history, tips on visiting the city, etc. This tour will allow the guests to not waste time getting to know the area on their own and then go to see the Panama Canal for the 1400-1500 window the ships pass through generally. We will start in the Casco Viejo to try the Geisha coffee and make friends with the other guests on the tour. Then go into Santa Ana for a taste of real Panama with several food tastings and then back into Casco for more of the traditional tour with many current local touches. The tour will end at a café for lunch (lunch not included). Included in the price of the tour are many local food tastings, juice, coffee, and local chocolate.

Many tours that explore the area of Casco Viejo (Old Town) tend to be of large groups where the attendees often struggle to understand what is written on the information signs. Rarely do they include insight into the beating heart that is Panama City, beyond its history. Extras such as food and drinks are usually reserved for the more expensive tours. However, if you’re interested in getting a glimpse of local life in the communities around Casco Viejo, savor the authentic Panamanian flavors, gain knowledge about the social-economic challenges modern-day Panama City faces, acquire tips for budget-friendly eating and shopping, and receive safety advice for your city escapades, this tour may be ideal for you. One previous participant mentioned that although the tour presented unfamiliar scents, it offered a genuine representation of the city. For those seeking assistance in making the most of their Panamanian adventure, I take great joy in guiding every one of my clients. For an enhanced experience, the group sizes will remain limited.
