- SSR Botanic Garden - Prepare to discover the most remarkable sites in the northern part of the island. Starting from Port-Louis, a city with a rich history of battles and early developments under French and British rule, to the SSR Botanical Garden where you can find unique native plants, this tour is a journey through history complemented by stunning natural scenery.
The botanical garden boasts an incredible array of tropical plants, many of which are native to the region. It is one of the most popular attractions and was initially established as a private garden by the French governor nearly 300 years ago. Spanning vast acres, it could take over a week to explore the entire garden. The garden features more than 650 plant species, including the renowned Baobabs, the bottle palm, the impressive giant water lilies, numerous medicinal plants, 85 different types of palms, a large spice garden, and much more.
- Le Caudan Waterfront - Tour and visit Port Louis. Experience the capital of Mauritius, Port Louis, the island’s largest city and its economic and administrative hub. Near the main square, you can walk along the palm-lined Place d’Armes and admire beautiful French colonial architecture, such as the Government House and the Municipal Theater. You will have free time to explore the Port Louis Waterfront and the Le Caudan Waterfront shopping complex. This lively area offers a mix of shopping and entertainment options, along with world-class hotels and restaurants overlooking the Port Louis Harbor. The waterfront has become a key destination for tourism and cultural activities in Mauritius.
- Le Craft Market - The craft market is particularly vibrant, offering a lively atmosphere where you can find plenty of souvenirs for your loved ones back home.
- Central Market - Another must-visit is the Port Louis central market, a fun and ideal spot to discover locally made products, textiles, Mauritian spices, fruits, and many affordable souvenirs. During your free time, you can wander the city streets and visit various attractions such as the Anglican and Catholic cathedrals, the main city Mosque, Chinatown, the Supreme Court house, the 18th-century Barracks, and the Natural History Museum (free entry).
- Citadel Fort Adelaide - Also known as La Citadelle, Fort Adelaide is strategically located on elevated land in Port Louis, 240 feet above sea level. Construction began in 1832 and took nearly a decade to complete. The fort offers sweeping panoramic views of Port Louis and its harbor. Built by the British to prevent civil unrest from remaining French settlers and to protect the harbor from enemy attacks, a trip to Fort Adelaide promises stunning views of the city and the surrounding mountain range.
- Cap Malheureux - The iconic Red Roof Church is ideally situated at the northernmost point of Mauritius, offering breathtaking views of the five northern islets. This is where the British landed in 1810. Many visitors come to Cap Malheureux to see and photograph the Red Roof Church. From the beach, you can enjoy the crystal-clear ocean, view the small islands off the northern coast, and relax on the beautiful beach.
- Mont Choisy Beach - Located along the northern coast of Mauritius, just a short drive from Grand Baie, Mont Choisy Beach is renowned for its gently curving white sand that forms a bay of stunning turquoise water, lined with casuarina trees. These trees provide shade and a picturesque backdrop for the ocean.
Easily accessible, this beach is a favorite among both tourists and locals, making it an ideal spot to unwind and enjoy quality beach time.
The entrance to Mont Choisy Beach is marked by a monument commemorating the first manned flight between Mauritius and Reunion Island on September 10, 1933.
