Highlights
  • Imjingak Pyeonghoa-Nuri Park - Start your journey at Imjingak, a park dedicated to those who fled North Korea during the Korean War. Discover war artifacts in the park, then proceed to the Bridge of Freedom, which was used to liberate about 12,800 Korean War prisoners in 1953.
  • DMZ - Enjoy a ride on a crystal cable car across the Imjin River, crossing the Civilian Control Line over a distance of 850 meters. (No additional charge required) Take in the stunning views from the transparent floor of the cable car as you glide through the air, observing landmarks.
  • Dora Observatory - Head to the Dora Observatory for a close-up look at North Korean villages and the city of Kaesong. Located near the border and equipped with high-performance binoculars, it is a popular stop on DMZ tours. On clear days, you can even see the statue of Kim Il Sung, providing a firsthand glimpse of the ongoing division between North and South Korea. The Dora Observatory is a perfect place to witness the reality of the divided Korean Peninsula.
  • Tongilchon-gil - Explore the Unification Village and its local specialties. The area is famous for its beans, and you can find unique desserts and snacks made from these local products. There is no pressure to buy anything, so feel free to browse at your own pace.
  • The Third Tunnel - Don a helmet and explore the Third Tunnel, one of the tunnels built by North Korea to infiltrate South Korea. Walk through the tunnel for a one-of-a-kind experience. Visit the DMZ Theater for a short film on the Korean War, watch videos about the war and the DMZ’s creation, and explore the exhibition hall with key artifacts and photos to learn more about the region’s history.
  • Gamaksan Chulleong Bridge - Embark on a light hiking adventure to experience the iconic ‘Chulleong Bridge’ on Gamaksan (Mountain Gamak). The term ‘Chulleong’ means ‘swaying’ in Korean, and you can feel the excitement of crossing a suspension bridge that spans approximately 150 meters. This spot is very popular for taking stunning photos, so be sure to stop and enjoy the breathtaking views.

Extremely, informative, thought provoking, well organised and - Thank you David and Andy for a well organised, hassle free and memorable private tour. From the confirmation of the pickup, breakfast, water and making sure that we were comfortable at every point in the journey. Andy shared a depth of knowledge on ancient and modern history that we found the tour both informative and interesting. You organised everything which took the stress and hassle out of organising transport and tickets to all venues and sites we visited on this private DMZ tour. Always considerate, even brought umbrellas when we forgot to bring our own, and was flexible with the itinerary by taking us to the war museum. Also a good photographer too. If you want a hassle free, well informed and knowledgable and hassle free tour hosted by a a great tour guide to the DMZ, this is it.

Comprehensive DMZ Tour - The *Best* Tour Guide - I would highly recommend this tour to anyone who wants to avoid the typical overcrowded tour bus and focus on a more individualized experience at the DMZ. Our tour guide David was communicative (phone call and kakao chat for communication), knowledgeable, and went above and beyond to streamline our itinerary. David purchased all tickets for us, filled out necessary forms for DMZ entry, had a ample supply of water in our van, got us around the huge tour groups at each stop, answered all of our questions about DMZ and Korea in general, customized our itinerary so we could see two additonal stops (Gloucester Memorial and a Confuscian Shrine) and was an excellent and safe driver. We had a great time with our guide! He was excellent. What to expect -- during your tour to the DMZ, you will follow the main stops on the itinerary as listed on Viator. Do not forget your passport if you are from USA. There are DMZ checkpoints requiring identification. You will be transported to the DMZ by your tour guides vehicle (van) but at the DMZ transportation is controlled by buses. You will be walking quite a lot and there is a decent amount of elevation, especially at the Third Tunnel. Just be prepared with good shoes, ideally shoes with good grip. There were actually a decent amount of places during the itinerary to get snacks and food. I would still recommend bringing a few granola bars or something to eat while walking. It's a LONG day. We started at 630am and were home around 530pm. No critiques but just a warning to make sure you're prepared for the long day! Again, overall, if you want the full DMZ experience this is *the* tour.
