- Oświęcim - Begin your visit by entering through the gate to the first camp, Auschwitz I, initially designed as a concentration camp to detain numerous Polish citizens arrested after Germany annexed the country in 1939. The most recognizable sign, “Arbeit Macht Frei” (Work Makes You Free), is present here. This section typically takes 2 hours, and participants will use headsets to clearly hear the guide. According to the Museum’s rules, the group size is limited to 30 people, ensuring a comfortable and accessible experience for everyone. Explore the original wooden buildings, fortified walls, barbed wires, gas chambers, and crematoria, all of which leave a profound impression, helping to comprehend the scale of the Holocaust.
- Brzezinka - After the first camp, a short break of up to 15 minutes is planned. Participants will be transported to the second part of the tour, Birkenau (Auschwitz II), just 3 minutes away. This is the largest camp, built and operated with the specific aim of making Europe “Judenrein” (free of Jews). The same guide will continue with a moving lecture about the camp in the village of Brzezinka (Birkenau), constructed in 1941 on the orders of Heinrich Himmler (SS commander), and capable of holding approximately 90,000 prisoners. Participants will hear about the horrific stories of unimaginable living conditions, as well as the cruel selection and pseudo-scientific medical experiments conducted by prominent Nazi doctors, including Josef Mengele. The tour concludes with the story of the soldiers of the 60th Army of the First Ukrainian Front, who opened the gates of Auschwitz on January 27, 1945, marking the final liberation. This leaves participants with the understanding that such genocide should never have occurred and must never happen again.
