Lost in the Process:Book Directly - Something happened with the reservation and no guide showed up. When I called the local tour office they said the tour had been cancelled and I was sent a e-mail which was never received. Odd because I kept getting messages from Trip Advisor about payment and tickets which I downloaded several weeks ago. I called the provided office phone of the local tour service. The woman who answered was very apologetic and very helpful. She found us an English speaking guide, Olav, who was terrific! Not sure who dropped the ball but in the future I will book directly with the company that runs the tour. My five star review is for the local company and especially for the guide. Sorry Trip Advisor, while you reviews are usually helpful your booking service was not. No stars. WJB

Great walking tour - Our tour guide, Judit, took us on a wonderful 3hr walking tour. She was very knowledgeable of the history, buildings and the people of Oslo. She kept her speed to ours as we had a few in our group that walk a bit slower. We did a big circle of the city hitting all the highlights. She also gave us food and museum recommendations. I would definitely do another tour with Judit. Beware of the bicyclists, they are crazy.

Oslo walking tour - Maria met us at our hotel in Oslo City Center. She had good information to share regarding the history of the city and Norway in general. The tour was a good overview of the city center. We had our tour on a Sunday in July and there was not a lot going on.

Good Tour & Great Guide - A really good tour which helped to orientate us on the layout of Oslo but also Ragnhild, who was fabulous, gave us a great insight into the history of Oslo. It's a private tour, so it was just the four of us, lasted 3hrs and started at our hotel. Amongst other sights we visited the City Hall (the inside is excellent), Akershus Castle & Fortress, National Theatre as well as the Aker Brygge where there are numerous shops / restaurants. For some reason we didn't visit the Royal Palace and if I could be a little critical the tour didn't need 3 hours as we seemed to be wasting time in the final 30mins - it wasn't helped in that the city was very busy as it was Pride weekend. The cost was £215 for the four us - I would recommend the tour but feel you codlin see the main sights in 2hrs - 2.5hrs.

Not recommended! - Absolutely not recommended. Booked because of the great reviews. The private tour covered the bare basics, but the guide was not a local and didn’t offer much beyond surface-level facts. 70% silence as we walk. She might as well be standing at a concierge desk. I was standing next to another small group - the guide was energetically sharing history. I kept prompting her at the beginning to give more background, then I gave up. I resorted to taking photo of the place and getting more information on the internet. We were hoping for more storytelling and enthusiasm to bring Oslo to life. Could be a great tour with more engagement. I’m just left extremely frustrated.
