Exploring the Karahori... - Exploring the Karahori area of Osaka with Cheiko-san as our guide was an unforgettable experience! This serene and historic part of the city felt like a step back in time, with its charming old houses, narrow streets, and authentic local atmosphere. Cheiko took us to some delightful local shops, bakeries, and sweet shops, where we had the chance to try delicious treats and discover unique items. Her deep love for Karahori really shone through, and her knowledge of the area added so much to our experience. The tour felt personal and unhurried, allowing us to truly appreciate the calm and beauty of this hidden gem in Osaka. If you’re looking for an authentic and peaceful way to explore the city, I highly recommend this tour with Cheiko-san!

Charming slow life in a quiet neighbourhood in Osaka - Our guide Chieko was polite and warm. She feels passionate about her neighbourhood and is eager to share the sights and history. The quietness and beauty of old houses and charming gardens in twisting lanes was a sharp contrast to the sight seeing I did of the city the previous day. Chieko introduced us to various shops and artisans and their wares right from traditional mat makers to chocolatiers, and more. I had the best fried tofu in the market! We munched on fresh beans and tofu as we walked. It was a truly beautiful day! Thank you Chieko for making Osaka so memorable

Unique - I had booked this tour through a video I had found on social media. And I would say it is 100% worth your time. I was taken through the local area and shown a number of local artisanal shops with plenty of things that would be great gifts, definitely much better than things you can find at places like Hands or LOFT. If your in Osaka and you have the time. I would say this is a must do ☺️

Authentic details from a local expert - I've been to Osaka before and was looking to explore an area outside of the usual high-traffic hot spots. Sure, I could pick a neighborhood and wander by myself, but having Chieko as a guide brought out so much more of the details and history of Karahori. She pointed out how the terrain showed where the old moat had been, where certain sections of the walls remained and many of the authentic old machi-ya remain (some in disrepair and some thriving as reformed buildings housing new businesses). We visited a number of interesting local businesses, from a tatami maker, to a chocolatier to the local grocers and fish mongers on the shotengai. Check out this tour if you want to avoid the same old hot spots and get an authentic view of a different side of town.

Discover the deep side of Osaka! - Although it is within walking distance from Namba, it is an area with a completely different atmosphere and is worth visiting. Old houses and shopping streets frequented by locals remain, allowing you to see the daily life of Osaka. In addition, there are ruins and wells of the historic Osaka Castle. Chieko is also familiar with the locations of ruins, wells, and shops in hidden places, and she guides us to places that we would not have been able to find on our own.
