Introduction to Japanese Culture - Really enjoyed the experience! The organizers were wonderful in showing how to dance in a group and then playing traditional Japanese instruments. It's a great event for first time visitors coming to Japan and to learn about Japanese culture.

So much fun! - I had never participated in a Bon Odori before, so this was my first experience. The instruction was easy to understand and I felt like my heart was united as we all danced in a circle! There were also taiko drums and shamisen, which I was able to touch and really enjoy! Highly recommend it! Thank you very much for the fun time!

Enchanting Bon Odori Experience - The Bon Odori experience was absolutely fantastic! The live Shamisen and Taiko drum performances were extraordinary and truly moving. The host's professional mastery of the Shamisen was awe-inspiring. Dancing in synchrony with everyone was incredibly enjoyable, making us feel like one big family. This experience has only intensified my eagerness to participate in an actual Bon Odori festival soon. I had an absolutely wonderful time.

Learning the Bon dance - I felt that Bon Odori was completely different from Maiko's indoor dances and Noh. When I actually learned how to dance, I felt that my body moved naturally and rhythmically. I still see it being danced at summer festivals, but when I actually danced it, it felt like an hour and a half had passed in the blink of an eye.We started dancing in a circle and learned three types of dances, each of which was different, and it was fun to learn the different things. Next time I have a chance to go, I plan to bring my friends as well.

Such a great experience. - We had a wonderful time. We were welcomed by very lovely people. We were treated to a live shamisen performance and invited to play the instruments (which my husband and sons loved). We then learned the dance. We were worried about our dancing skills but by the end of class we all managed to pick up the dance. It was so much fun. Everyone enjoyed this class a lot. We highly recommend taking part in this class. It was a great experience.

A new sensation - I enjoyed the Bon Odori dance at Shinsekai. I remember my parents taking me there as a child, but I had completely forgotten the dance itself. After listening to a brief explanation of the instruments and the dance, practice began. First, we learned how to move our feet while looking at a diagram of the steps. As we got used to the dance, we remembered the melody of the music and were able to dance happily. That alone was plenty of fun. We then formed a circle and danced behind the dance teacher, watching him, when suddenly the teacher changed the dance. It was strangely fun to dance while imitating the unusual dance from behind. My eyes, head and body are all separate, but it was a new and wonderful feeling to gradually understand and start dancing. That strange feeling still remains with me to this day. I recommend that everyone try it out.

A favourite memory! - So much fun! The people running the class were amazing. They are very kind and knowledgeable. They gave us easy to follow directions to get there which was so helpful. We actually got there early and we were treated to live shamisen (which was amazing). They even let us try the instruments. The dancing seemed a little intimidating at first but they were very patient and made it fun. We did manage to pick up the dance (even those who don't normally dance). It was such a nice cultural experience. We are so grateful they allowed us to participate in it. This is a great activity for any age. My family and I enjoyed this class so much and we walked away with great memories from it. I highly recommend it.
