Great way to see famous sites of Kyoto and Nara - This trip was an excellent way to see three major sites (Fushimi Inari Tanisha Gates, Arashiyama Bamboo Forest, Nara park and Todai-ji temple) across two cities all within a day trip. The visits are quicker (roughly 80 min at each site), but includes a delicious lunch and a comfortable bus ride. Our guide, Harry, was a fantastic wealth of knowledge, and very pleasant to chat with! Would recommend this tour to anyone wishing to see very famous sites of the cities in a day.

Best guide ever!!! - Gary is the best tour guide ever! He is super funny and super knowledgeable and super chill, and just a great man all around. I wish I had more time to have taken more tours with him. We saw it all, especially the water lily garden that most people missed, but Gary knew where to go and what to show us and it was the most fabulous day even though it was 1000°. I’d recommend this tour to anybody but above all Gary is the man.

Exactly what you pay for - This is a very average tour in a good way if that makes sense, and that’s not to say don’t do it. It hits three of the main attractions around the area in a very fast blitzkrieg. You won’t have much time at the stops, but having an air conditioned bus to get you everywhere is very nice. The only things that were annoying is that on our tour, the guide had a very strong Chinese accent and at times it was hard to understand him, and he didn’t really have any historical insights a quick google search wouldn’t have come up with. Also, there was a couple on our tour who was late to get back on the bus every single time, and if they read this I hope they know that they made everyone else on the tour really mad. I wish they would’ve been left behind.

Not the best tour: From Osaka/Kyoto: Kyoto & Nara Day Trip with Lunch. - We didnt have the best experience. Our guide introduced himself on the bus and then that was it. No commentary whilst we were driving, no information on how long the bus trip would take to each place or when we drove past certain monuments or attractions there was no commentary. The lunch was abysmal. There were no instructions on where we were meant to sit, i ended up sitting on the end of the table and stuck under a ledge, it was so uncomfortable i ended up getting up and walking outside as I couldnt sit down to eat so didnt get to eat the meal. No instructions on how to cook the lunch either, the guide would disappear and leave everyone to themselves. We didnt get to see Arashiyama Kimono Forest so missed out on this. Every time we would arrive at an attraction, no mention of how long or how far the walk would be to get there. Understand that tour buses can only park at certain car parks but it would have been nice to be advised how far away we had to walk in the heat so that we could choose if we wanted to go along or stay on the coach in the air conditioning. Perhaps when choosing guides for these tours, management look at the nationalities that are on the tour and match the guide with guests onboard. Our guide would have been best suited with Chinese nationalities as opposed to Australians and Europeans. Also, all the other guides gave their guests stickers so you knew which group you were with, we didnt receive any stickers so when we were at lunch and staff at the restaurant questioned my wife if she was part of the tour group, they didnt believe her so got the guide to ask her again. The guide had the cheek to ask my wife as well if she was part of the tour group and made her feel very embarrassed. He should have known that she was part of the tour group. Very unorganized, was unable to eat lunch and didnt get the full itinerary that was advertised. Not impressed and wont book a tour with this company again.

Bus was about 30+mins... - Bus was about 30+mins late arriving for the pickup in Kyoto. The time allowed at each destination was shorter than stated ( except lunch) and the bus drop off at the destination was so far away that at least 15min of the allocated time ( usually 50min) needed to be walked before the destination was reached. No time was allowed to explore, to buy refreshments or souvenirs. Being that the temperature was 35c-38c, no allowance was made I was unable to visit at least 2 of the key sites given the heat and not enough time was allowed so had to wait instead of participating.
