Best night experience in Costa Rica - What a unique experience, a highlight of our vacation. Tracie and Gian offer an incredibly interesting, scientifically sound, and yet super-exciting night tour. You experience the animals up close and learn remarkable things about them. The duo of Tracie and Gian is brilliant; while one shows and explains, the other is already looking for the next highlights. The route is well-chosen; around every corner, the jungle reveals itself anew at night. A fantastic experience that you simply cannot miss in Drake Bay. Thank you for your fantastic efforts, Tracie and Gian.

Do this tour! - We had an amazing time on this tour. Tracie and Gianfranco immediately began tag-teaming and finding different animals for us to see. We hopped on a boat to cross a small harbor at the mouth of a river, learning about crocodiles and bats along the way. The scope had a tablet on it to make it easier to see species and more efficient. While one of them was with us and a bug or other creature, the other would be off looking for the next thing for us to observe. We saw mammals, reptiles, amphibians, and lots of arthropods. The trap door spiders were very cool. They pack a lot into a few hours.

This night walk tour with Tracie and Gian was a real highlight of our trip. It’s a must for all animal lovers! - The night walk was a great experience and opened up a world to us which we would otherwise never have seen. Tracie and Gian are very knowledgeable and at the same time so entertaining that you want to learn more about all these amazing creatures. We saw snakes, frogs, scorpions, spiders and many more! Night life in the jungle is fascinating.

An unforgettable nocturnal adventure - We did the night tour in Drake Bay with Tracie and Gianfranco, and it was honestly one of the highlights of our trip. From the first few minutes, their excitement and knowledge made the whole rainforest feel like it was waking up just for us. Even people in our group who usually can’t stand spiders, snakes, or creepy crawlies were totally into it. They found all sorts of wildlife—red-eyed tree frogs, snakes, scorpions, and plenty more—and made each sighting interesting with cool facts and stories. With the headlamps, scopes, and even an iPad, everyone got a great view, no matter where you were standing. It’s not just about spotting animals, though. The small group size, their attention to safety, and the follow-up email with a species list and photos made it feel really personal. If you’re in Drake Bay, don’t miss this tour. Whether you’re into bugs or not, you’ll end up having a great time and learning a ton.

One of a kind - We were really lucky to get a last-minute booking with the Bug Lady while staying in Drake Bay! The 3 or so hours went by really fast while learned about all the critters and Tracie and Gian's work to understand them and share them with all. They are both really knowledgeable, approachable, and good-humored - and seem totally committed both to their work and to the general (Osa Peninsula) area. Very educational and gained a tremendous amount of appreciation for the night-dwellers in the Drake Bay area and back at home, too! Highly, highly recommend!

If you do one tour in Drake Bay, make it this one! - Absolute must-do experience in Drake Bay. Tracie and her husband are an amazing and incredibly knowledgeable team. And they pack an enormous amount of information into every two hour tour. While Tracie shows the group one insect/animal, her husband is already locating the next, such that there is never any “down time.” It’s a 2.5 hour non-stop NATGeo/BBC documentary. 5 Stars!

The hype is real!! - Tracie and her husband John helped lead this tour together. These guys are the real deal! They have lived in Drake Bay for several decades; they are real experts; and they have even helped the BBC film several nature productions in the area! They are such a great team and work together to get you nonstop wildlife spotting. I felt so privileged to get to tour with them. You will probably not find a more expert tour guide during your vacation!

Tracie the Bug Lady night tour - With the expertise and passion of Tracie and Gianfranco we were introduced to the amazing “bug” world of Drake Bay at night! So much life in every square meter! Trapdoor spider and scorpion were among the favorites. Receiving an emailed summary of what we encountered that evening was also appreciated!

- Truly amazing Tour. Tracy and Gianfranco worked as a Team, so we actuelly went with 2 tourguides. While one was explaining, the other already looked out for animals/ insects. The whole tour was done very informative and professional.

Our whole family loved it - Our family loved the tour. Tracie and Gianfranco were such kind and knowledgeable guides. Our kids were engaged until the end, despite the late hour. Tracie and Gianfranco went to great lengths to make sure we could see animals well. Tracie even found an additional trapdoor spider a bit lower down at our daughter's height so she could see it. Tracie and Gianfranco are so enthusiastic and share so much information, including up-to-date research and discoveries on rare species in the area.
