Well worth the Discomfort - We hired bikes from TCB in town. These were good quality and well maintained. We were bused up to the start of the 15 km ride and basically told follow the signs which was very easy to do. Thinking that this might be relatively flat, (it being a road that was replaced by a railway) we set off expecting to be back after an hour or so. And of course we would had it not been for the numerous information boards that we encountered which were very interesting and painted a picture of days gone by. They were also a handy stopping point, as not only is the route undulating it is also on the old cobbles which might be comfortable in a horse and cart but not on a hard tail mountain bike without electrical assistance. The two viaducts were fantastic feats of engineering and a beautiful lunch stop. For £30 this was great value for a 4 hour activity. You will need to be relatively fit or take a long time reading the boards.

Wonderful family experience. - Awesome track and scenery. Suitable for all levels of riding and fitness. Definitely upgrade to the e-bikes, much better quality of bike and therefore better suspension which made for a much more enjoyable ride. Super helpful staff.

Rustic historical scenic Old Coach Trail - We all loved the rustic and at times challenging trail, beautiful with its bush clad surroundings and historical landmarks. The tour operators were faultless very helpful with supplying E-bikes, briefing us, responding to questions on-line and detailed overview before the ride. The shuttle to our preferred point to begin the trail was faultless . A reasonable level of skill to navigate the trail is preferable. Well done Viator your choice of operator was excellent.

Beautiful MTB tour - Beautiful, very different nature trails. Bumpy, but easy to ride with MTB. The old bridges are of course the highlights. Way is well explained and is super signposted. Price and performance for this tour is great, we found it cheap. We did not encounter any people, was totally beautiful this tranquility. But also a coffee, and evt. Shopping stop at the old railway station must not be missing. Cool sustainable items and beautiful, dear dogs:-) We can only recommend the tour. If outdoor clothing is missing - can still be purchased in the bike rental shop. We got gloves and helmets.

Best bike ride in NZ - We did this ride on own dual suspension bikes getting dropped off at the Horopito end then rode back to Ohakune with a 9 & 12 year old. Scenery was stunning. Took 3 1/2 hours stopping for lunch & looking at all the signs & taking pics. There is heaps of downhill & flat. My daughter walked up the few hills. We loved it so much my husband and I did it the next day in 1 1/2 hours! Fabulous! It's a bit bumpy at the end but no worse than timber trail!

Don't miss Old Coach Road and TCB make it so easy - We had such a great time on the Old Coach Road today. Rental bikes are usually a bit old and worn out but not TCB's bikes - newish and beautifully maintained, the gear changes and brakes were sharp and precise. Tip: Pay the extra for the softtail bikes, the cobbles on the trail are sharp and bumpy! Everything was just smooth and easy. Old Coach Road is a must do on a bike or on foot, it's stunning. Mya set us up nicely and answered all our many and varied and interminable questions with a smile. So much fun, thanks TCB.

Stunning ride but be aware - A stunning ride. However, the advertisement includes children aged 6-14. I would not recommend this ride for children less than 12-14yrs or adults who are not particularly fit. There are some steep uphill sections and some fast very bumpy bone jarring downhills because of the large stones used to build the original road. Otherwise a wonderful ride.

Great half day bike ride - Great way to see this beautiful corner of the national park. Fitness level medium and some bike experience useful but eminently achievable.. Bike store staff great, super-helpful regarding route, help during trip if needed etc. Standard bikes pretty good. Fantastic scenery, cycling tracks through forest and farmland. Viaducts and valleys are a must see. All very well signed - and great ice cream at the end of the route at Ohakune Station.
