Great time, got stuck but ok - My kids and I had a great time. We did get stuck by going into a valley and did not have the lentil to get out. Brian came quickly and got us towed out. The added benefit is that he did not make me feel like getting stuck and let my kids know it happens often.

Get a UTV not a buggy - Was overall a super fun experience and would highly recommend it to anyone. We had one group that rented a 4-person dune buggy, and another group that rented a 4-person UTV, and the UTV was hands-down the better option. Don't even bother with the old-school dune buggies. It was a loud, slow, super-bumpy ride, and then it broke down and wouldn't start and we had to get towed back. Meanwhile, the group with the UTV was zipping around with no problems having a blast.
Everyone we dealt with was awesome and we still had a great time.

Great time. The dunes... - Great time. The dunes aren’t as big as Glamis but super fun. You have to know how to drive a UTV or quad for some areas but it’s flat enough for families in other spots.

Such a Fun and Safe Adventure in Pismo Beach! - My guy and I had an amazing time doing the Sun Buggy experience on the dunes in Pismo Beach! The whole process—from check-in to check-out—was smooth and super organized. The team went over everything really well, made sure we understood how to safely operate the ATV, and even had us watch a short, informative video beforehand.
They gave us a map (which we kept on us and were so glad we did—those dunes can be a maze!) and even provided a phone number on a wristband in case we needed help. That made us feel extra safe knowing someone could come get us if needed.
We laughed, we raced through the sand, and just had a blast. Highly recommend this experience to anyone looking for an exciting and memorable time on the dunes!

Having to change size of ATV - When we checked in we were suggested to go to bigger size ATV. The ones we rented were up to 175 pounds. It doesn’t mention that anywhere when booking, so that is something to consider.
Other than that everyone was extremely helpful and had a great time.

You will be scammed and ripped off by Sunbuggy - COERCION, IRRESPONSIBILITY, and DECEPTION... that's what you will receive from Sunbuggy. Read all the reviews; many others have been victimized! The vehicles my family paid for and reserved were NOT available. We were given substitute vehicles. Within 10 minutes, one of the vehicles we never signed up for stopped working and had to be towed back. We were told the belt blew and mentioned further damage in the engine. We were told to pay $3000! I asked to speak to a manager, but none were available. I asked to go to the office to speak with a manager, and was told none were there. I asked to see the vehicle and was told it had already been moved to the repair shop. I said we wouldn't pay $3000. Then they started to chip away at the bill. Soon, they were down to $1500. They wouldn't let us leave the beach area to go to the office (an approximate 1-mile distance on the beach) until we paid them. We ultimately relented and agreed to pay under duress. Do NOT use this company!

Broken parts didn't go - Broken parts bad customer service no response and no resolutions offered, I'm sure it's a great time if you're lucky enough to get working vehicles but this was the single worst experience we've had with a company

They had no vehicles available and did not refund us - Horrible customer service, if there is any issue you will never see a phone call back - forget about them actually helping or taking care of you, I strongly suggest you do not book this in advance as there are frequent issues with their vehicles and you'll never see a dime back. They're more concerned with their bad google reviews then actually helping customers, I'm in middle of fighting it out with them thru our credit card company and they've been impossible

Not Worth Time or Effort - I booked this experience for a bachelorette party over the Fourth of July weekend but was unable to participate due to company disorganization and mismanagement. My group of 3 waited over 90 minutes to check in. We eventually left due to company safety and management concerns. The company did not have enough helmets and provided a haphazard safety video. My party was not prepared to assume the risk and decided to leave without proceeding with this service.

Horrible experience - I visited Pismo this past weekend for a 10 year wedding anniversary. The highlight of the weekend was supposed to be the sand dunes. SunBuggy unfortunately had other plans. I wrote in to this company on Sunday when I left, and have yet to hear back. Their auto reply message states to allow up to 48 hours for a response. It had been 3 days now. Here is the letter that I wrote:
“
Hello,
I was provided this contact by your team at the Pismo/Oceano location following a very disappointing experience with Sunbuggy this past weekend. I had booked a Polaris RZR 2-seater online back in May for what was meant to be a memorable first-time adventure with a group of 11. Unfortunately, it turned out to be quite the opposite—for everyone involved.
Given how early I booked, I expected the reservation to be properly scheduled and the vehicle to be in working condition. I followed all instructions provided: I arrived an hour early for our 12 PM time slot, watched the safety video, and even pre-ordered recommended gear like goggles in anticipation of the experience.
When we arrived at the riding area, there was no Polaris UTV in sight. Staff seemed confused and eventually told me the vehicle was still in the shop but would arrive in 15 minutes. Twenty minutes passed, and with the rest of my group already waiting, I was told we’d be given extra time once the Polaris arrived.
After 30 minutes of waiting, I was offered the option to ride ATVs in the meantime. I had recently recovered from a broken foot and was reluctant due to the increased risk of injury, but I agreed since there were no alternatives. We rode for 20 minutes, returned, and the Polaris had finally arrived.
We got in and were initially instructed to drive in high gear, which didn’t work. Then we were told to use low gear, but the vehicle wouldn’t go faster than 5 mph. After attempting to drive, the employee informed us it was in “limp mode” and still broken. He went on to say that Sunbuggy is known for renting out broken vehicles and overbooking reservations. That statement alone was incredibly concerning and disappointing to hear.
At that point, more than an hour and a half had passed. I had no functioning vehicle to use and ultimately decided to end the experience. Back at the office, I was given this email to file my complaint.
To be clear: I am not interested in a credit. I live 4.5 hours away and have no plans to return, nor would I recommend Sunbuggy based on this experience. I am requesting a full refund back to my card, as I never received the service I paid for.
I also want to note that I have not yet posted a public review on Yelp, Google, TripAdvisor, or other platforms, as I’m waiting to see how Sunbuggy chooses to address this situation first.
I trust you’ll do the right thing and look forward to your response.”
