Woodcut Tuesday. How to learn basic woodcutting in one fun session. - Abril took my wife and I through each step of the procedure to design a picture, and how to make a woodcut through to printing the result. She was very skillful at explaining each step and guiding us to the finished art work. Thoroughly enjoyable!

Loved this experience - My (adult) daughter and I both attended this workshop during our visit to Oaxaca and had a wonderful time. It was educational, culturally enlightening, and so much fun. It was well run, offered both structure and creative freedom, and takes place in an art studio that inspires many of your own ideas. In addition to taking home our own prints/carved boards (approx 8"x10"), I also bought a couple of pieces from the display racks. There is absolutely no pressure to buy anything - I just had a bit of extra time, browsed, and liked a couple of the prints. I highly recommend this workshop for anyone with an artistic side (no need for any experience or particular talent) and would gladly sign up again if I am back in the region. If you (or anyone in your group attending) has zero knowledge of or experience with wood or lino printing, I would recommend spending even just 15-30 min researching this online to get an idea of the art form and to get some very simple ideas before going. I feel like I wasted at least 30 minutes just trying to decide what to draw/carve that was within my (very limited) abilities. I wish I'd been just slightly more prepared, inside my own head. There is a bathroom available just outside the studio. Bring your own snacks/water. It really is 4 hours long and you will pick up your prints/original carving the following day after they've had a chance to dry a while. If you are planning ahead for this during a vacation involving luggage/flights, think about how you will transport your artwork back home. We ended up rolling ours up and putting them inside a paper towel tube in our suitcases but if I'd known ahead of time we probably could've come up with something better to keep them safe.

One of the very best times we had in Oaxaca - If you take in one creative cultural experience in Oaxaca, make it this one! We had the most wonderful afternoon taking this workshop. Our group had participants from ages 12-75 and every one of us thoroughly the process from start to finish, with start to finish meaning creating our own design (with help if wanted), to carving the wood, to printing our ink engravings. Personally, my artistic ability is sorely lacking, but with the guidance, instruction, encouragement, and right tools we were given, even a not-very-artistic person can create a beautiful print. I live part time in Oaxaca and have family and friends who visit and want to have a true Oaxacan experience... from now on, this is where I'm taking them. Oh, did I say the workshop is very reasonably priced? It is, and you get way more than you pay for.

Best experience in Oaxaca …. - Hands down the best art experience I’ve had anywhere - she was so patient, taught the history of the art, and allowed space for creativity with gentle guidance. Great for all levels of experience and ages. If you’re in Oaxaca please check this out!

Top Engraving Workshop! - I had a really nice and fun afternoon by learning the art of wood engraving in this workshop. Milo, our teacher was very friendly, competent and patient. I recommend this workshop to everyone who would love to learn something new and discover this artistic technique, which is a very important part of the culture and history of Oaxaca.

Good intro to a complex subject. Mexico has a long history with wood cut printing. - I signed up for this activity last minute and was the only participant. The teacher was very good and taught me how to plan the design and practice the cuts necessary to make it happen. It was cool to be able to make several prints right there--to see how the final product would look. I took this class during the holidays so the shop wasn't open on the two occasions I had to return and pick up the prints.

Exploring xylography - It was an interesting experience to approach the world of xylography. Although, I would have liked to know more about the other methods related to this technique, as I felt that the experience focused only on the basic one. Still, it was a good starting point to explore this art form.
