Highly recommend - One of a kind experience from the market to being invited into Minerva’s kitchen. Her passion for cooking truly shines and even with the language barrier engaged with all the participants.

Great experiences... - Great experiences learning how to make mole. We shopped for chiles etc in market. I love visiting markets. We went to her beautiful home and made the mole following her instruction from scratch . Our group of 4 included my wife , Ben and Brian made the mole and loved how it taste. We had a salute to drinking a shot of Mezcal. It was truly a memorable experience and loved the hands on instructions from Minerva Lopez and translation from Amy. I highly recommend this cooking class.

Excellent relaxed cooking and eating experience, very nice people, would send my friends there! - Very interesting and enjoyable class! We went to the famous Abastos Market and Minerva and her interpreter Amy showed us chiles, fruits, and grasshoppers and got us lots of samples. Then we went to her beautiful home and kitchen to prepare a Mole Coloradito. There were six of us and we all participated and helped prepare the mole. We also learned to make tortillas. All the cooking is on a wood fire with clay pots and flat clay cooktops. We ended with a delicious lunch of our prepared food, and choice of a mezcal cocktail or pure blend of mezcals in a sipping shot. I enjoyed hanging out with the other guests. English was our common language but we also spoke some Spanish.

Incredible! Don’t miss this. - This was an absolutely amazing experience! Minerva was fantastic! We loved the entire day and the location and set up of the kitchen was absolutely delightful! We learned so much and everyone was great. Beautiful location, the cocktails were wonderful, and we enjoyed being able to purchase pottery and treats. Our interpreter Amy was also wonderful!

Wonderful time learning to cook traditional Mexican dishes. - A wonderful day learning about the real Mexican cooking methods. We started with buying ingredients at a market, then learning how to process corn into tortilla dough at another stop. The cooking included making salsas, tortillas, and several traditional Mexican recipes. The class was well structured, and the food cooked was delicious and plentiful. Chef Minerva provided excellent guidance at a nice pace, and Amy provided the translation to English.

I can’t recommend this... - I can’t recommend this experience highly enough. To bring together people from a variety of backgrounds (we had Americans, Mexicans and Australians) and knit them together in a multilingual and fun learning environment isn’t easy, but it made our time with Minerva that much better. The food was delicious, the market was exciting if not a little chaotic, and the whole day was a totally unique experience we absolutely loved. This is a must try if you’re visiting Oaxaca. An experience we won’t ever forget.

Minerva and her daughters created an exceptional experience - A traditional cooking class in Oaxaca was exactly what we were looking for and Minerva and her daughters created an exceptional experience. From shopping at one of the biggest markets, preparing ingredients, cooking on a wood fire stove, to mescalini’s at lunch this was a treat from start to finish.
