Surprisingly large area with pyramids, temples and plazas. - Bigger and more important than I expected. Very much like Machu Picchu with pyramids and temples. Expect lots of walking up and down steep stairs. Not for frail or elderly. Go early and beat the crowds. Our tour guide spoke perfect English and was VERY knowledgeable about the place. Would highly recommend this place just for the history of the area.

Check these out before choosing the most reviewed options! - Excellent excursion in all respects. Very well organised with good communication. Vehicles were brand new and comfortable. The site is magnificent and our tour guide Juan was knowledgeable, enthusiastic and very patient. His explanations in English were very strong. Would wholly recommend to anyone looking for a Monte Alban tour. This seems to be a new company so don’t let the relatively few numbers of reviews deter you. I suspect Mexplorer will soon have many other positive reviews.

OAXACA MUST-DO EXPERIENCE! - The trip was absolutely FANTASTIC! I loved the ruins, the views were phenomenal, and the tour guide Balam was incredibly friendly and also very knowledgeable about the subject. His insights were never boring — always fascinating.

- Highly recommend this tour! Balam was incredibly patient, kind and knowledgeable about the Zapotec history of Monte Alban and gave so many interesting insights which enriched the experience. Pickup and drop off were smooth and time was given to explore independently and take photos.

Amazing and informative tour with friendly guide. - Balam was an excellent tour guide that had a wealth of information. He was able to answer all of our questions with great detail and create amazing mental images of the ancient civilization that inhabited Monte Alban. The transportation was on time, clean, and spacious. I would recommend this for small or large parties. You will leave with much more knowledge then when you started.

Highly recommend this half day tour! - From the start, getting to the meeting point was very clear. The transportation arrived right on time at 8am. We left to pick up another group and then made our way to Monte Alban. Our entrance fee was included and was provided to us before we walked in. Balam was our guide and was extremely pleasant and interactive throughout the entire tour. He was extremely knowable about the Zapotecs and Monte Alban and answered all of our groups questions thoroughly. I highly recommend this tour! It was the perfect length for us as we wanted to spend the rest of the day in the city. Thank you so much Balam!

Too long - The tour was 40 mins late leaving. I arrived at the pick up point at 8am and no one was there. I called and was told to meet them at a hotel a few blocks away. The other guests were being collected from their hotels so the bus did not arrive till 8.35 and didn't leave till 8.40. What I didn't understand when the description said tour available in English and Spanish, was that there was just one guide who repeated every bit of very detailed information twice in both languages. This meant it took around 1hr45m for the tour itself before having free time. Free time was then only 1 hour, which, in my opinion, wasn't enough to look around and take photos. The group was also pretty big with 18 people. I would recommend you to just take the shuttle and do Monte Albán yourself, it is really spectacular and you don't want to be rushed.
